I'm working on finishing up my newest Malifaux crew, Lord Chompy Bits and Teddies. The crew is going to have a base theme that looks like the floor in a childs bedroom. I made up some bases and green stuffed a pattern that looks like a wooden floor. Now I'm trying to figure out how to paint it so it looks like actual wood. Any Ideas?

Umm, paint it brown?

Just base coat it in whatever shade you want, then drybrush a light tone on, and then wash with a darker brown. You can manullly add streaks of a different brownif you want more texture too.

You can glaze it with different tones to show age and wear for example. Greens for a damp manky wood, or black/brown for scuff marks (try an antique effect with lil scratches etc).

Not really much more to add really.

All i can suggest is go to a local laminate floor supplier, have a look at different styles, and try paint it to mimic it, after all you wanted a base similar to a childs bedroom floor.

Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves

Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar

Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts

I used this when painting the bases in my mordheim warband (pics in my gallery) and it came out very nicely

yea that seems like an extraordinary amount of work to put into bases, so good luck to you.
