Greetings everyone, Magilla Gurilla here hoping to get the word out about an RTT at my FLGS. We had an okay turnout last time, which would have been better if my horde of children hadn’t gotten the stomach flu and I hadn’t had to pull out. However, we are hoping to get an even better turnout this time.
The store has room for 20 people (maybe more – the new location is pretty big, with private rooms even). Anyways, here is the information. Hope to see you there.
Warhammer 40,000 RTT
Location: Adventure’s Guild of Riverside
7000 Indiana Ave. Suite 114
Riverside, CA 92506
Date: September 18th
Start Time: 1000
Fee: $10 dollars or purchase $20 dollars in GW product from the store.
Points: 2000 points
3 Round Swiss Style Tournament
Hope to see you there.

The scoring will be a little different for this one.
Fully painted armies will get a one time bonus of 5 points.
The missions being used will be variants of the NOVA Open missions.

Well, I was planning on bringing the Angels, buy it looks like there are a load of Marines players already.... So as of now, I am undecided. I might bring a fun fluffy ork list (that can still beat arse)

Also, if there are 12 signed up I am expecting over 20 to show on Tourney day. I know of at least three people planning on going who havent signed up, also, when I was there the other day, about 2 other people said they were going to try to make it.
Should be a great showing in fact. Automatically Appended Next Post: Magilla Gurilla wrote:Not the Orks! They are so easy to beat!

I believe 12 players.
Gothgar took second with his orks. His buddy took first with Tyranids. A Necron player took third.
However, it was very close. As it came down to painting and army composition to break battle points ties. Battle points were a tie between Gothgar and his buddy with the Tyranids. Third was a tie between the necron player and blood angels.
Sadly My dice Abandoned me and I got stomped on and ground into the mud by Gothgar! I then lost to his buddy's Tyranids on the third tie breaker!
Oh well, hopefully better luck for me next time.

Yeah, your dice hated you... Also, my deffrollas were chomping your vehicles that game big time.
There was a 13th player there as well, but he didn't bust out his orks, so there wasn't an odd man out.
So the showing was okay. Good tournament though. We did that big tourney format from back east, and I have to say I was not too impressed with it. 1st and 2nd were tied, and 3rd and 4th were tied. I think after that almost everyone else was tied.
Maybe it works better for a 5 game tournament. Also, I did not like the exclusion of a kill points game.
The necrons guy actually did very well, beating a Space Wolves player with Logan( iirc?) and a strong Marines list with Vulcan.
Always fun to see a Necron player do well

It was the same guy at the GT who took second general behind you by 1 point.

He actually stomped my monkey ass into the ground.
I did the equivalent of "going for it on 4th and 2" and it didn't work out so his Destroyers just ravaged my vehicles and marines. I'm looking forward to a rematch!
I agree that I prefer Kill Points to Victory Points as far as 5th Edition is concerned. The newer Codexes really need KPs to discourage min-maxing IMHO. I also don't have the beef with ties that some do I guess.
One thing we did at my old LGS was have 3 Bonus Points available for every game. One for killing your opponent's highest point value HQ, one for killing your opponent's most expensive HQ, and one for having a scoring unit in your opponent's Deployment Zone. It made ties for Battle Points rather uncommon. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

That was a nice way of putting it!
To be honest, dice or not, you out gamed me.
I was hoping to immobilize or destroy one or two of the battle wagons with side shots and then move and scoot till I could get some more side shots on the others.
While it might have worked if I had actually hit you! and not rolled a bunch of It didn't and my being so close meant you could have your way with me. Live and learn. It was a great learning experience.

Agree. As the person who "sponsored" the idea, I think we need to have the incremental wins with various points for a three game tournament, otherwise to many ties.
As for the kill points, I believe next time we will be including a KP game objective; however, it will be the pick 5 of your opponents units version.

Hot dice helps for sure.
As an Angels and an Orks player, Angels have trouble putting enough bodies on the table to keep up. When I can have lootas and wagons up the ying yang and still outnumber you like 5 to 1...
