A couple months ago, some guys suggested I listened to david bowie. Well, after listening to him everyday for a month, I have to say I love him

Good job guys, I actually learned something from the OT board!

Yay!

Good call. See? The OT forum occasionally CAN be a force for good instead of evil.

What albums have you been listening to? If you haven't already, I recommend checking out 'Hunky Dory'.

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

Okay, so the male version of "Cougar" is now officially "Albatross".

Yet you didn't try Iron Maiden, Budgie, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Slayer, Whiplash, Venom, AC/DC, Saxon, Edgar Winter, Blue Oyster Cult, Anvil, Tygers of Pan Tang, Overkill, Motorhead,

Van Halen, Sadus, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rush, ZZ Top, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Bob Marley, Pantera, Agent Steel, Diamond Head, Rob Zombie, Exodus, Testament, Death, Bolt

Thrower, Annihilator, Nuclear Assault, Flotsam and Jetsam, Racer X, Raven, Riot, Possessed, Death Angel, Forbidden or Laaz Rockit I'm disappointed in you Samus_aran115.

You like metal? That's REVOLUTIONARY. Who would've thought that, in a community of mostly white guys, that someone would like metal. That's so cool! You must get lots of weird stares for all the metal you like, yet you don't care, cuz you're a metalhead and metal gives you the power to be more metal even in the most unmetal of circumstances. Know how awesome metal is? There's even a whole lore of magic named after it! Man, metal is cool. No, wait, metal is so metal!

(Just having a bit of fun, no offense )

And on topic, Ziggy Stardust ftw!

Whoa you scared me there for a sec. Although the more observant might have noticed that I strategically mixed some blues, blues rock, hard rock, prog rock, acid rock, Psychedelic rock, folk, folk rock and reggae in there.

Ha, I know. A lot of it is that stuff that many people (not accusing you) will harp on you for not appreciating even though they don't listen to it themselves You also forgot the only band that matters, Dream Theater.

They're amazing. It's like Rush brought into the modern age x50 with a much more flexible sound. Start with Octavarium, good all round album, or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. You will either love it or hate it, but you won't hear a more technically skilled band any time soon.

I'm impressed you managed to get through a third of that list (good job young Padawan ). Mind you why does Judas Priest have two *'s? Also are you saying that you've never learned anything form OT forum why this is

the best forum in all the "Interwebz" how dare you slander the Dakka's off-topic forum.

Thanks FITZZ that was godly , I've been trying to get more into punk (and blues, folk and reggae) but I often get distracted with more rock and metal.

Well...no,you wouldn't hear 37 time signature changes in The Clashes music, since The Clash were a bit more about writing relevent music and not looking or sounding pretty.

DT stay very relevant despite being amazeballs at the same time. I've nothing against The Clash, though the fact stands that they likely couldn't play a DT song, even though it works in the inverse. That's only one dimension of music, but it's worth considering.

@Chibi: Rush, sort of

David Bowie is simply an amazing and accomplished actor and musician. I loved him in the Labyrinth.

I wish there was some way to preserve his legacy for future generations, as if by some sort of preserving material that hardens quickly....

Since when were Deep Purple prog rock

Rush: ookay at a pinch. cos they did concept albums.

Dream Theatre vid. Not sure what to make of that. It seemed like there were lots of influences and not always gelling together. To be fair a Thomas Tallis madrigal (I think) was also on the radio at the same time!

DT has only had 1 song on the radio and that wasn't it The vid is there just to be there, but the song is amazing.

No linky Cheese :(

edit: but then as if by magic it apprears

Only 9 minutes long?
What self respecting prog rock track would be so fleeting?!!

okay, fair do's. Some of their tracks were proggy

And there are some tracks under 10 mins
I know this won't have wide appeal on Dakka but what the hell. My brother brought home Fragile c1970 and it has probably been the single most important album for me as it shaped my musical life. Was also my first little taste of Brahms. Sorry to deviate away from Bowie Samus.
No actually, I'm always too happy to deviate away from Bowie

I really enjoyed the video Chibi. I agree too, the less I hear about David Bowie the better that guy is creepy looking.

Why is it this thread reminds me of that Cheese Elemental quote from a while back?

"Goddammit dude, I do not need to see David Bowie's wang bursting out of his pants."

Or something to that effect.

Even more reason for me to dislike the guy.

Yeah I'm sorry but this guy looks like a total creep.
