But i want the model count to be small.

wuestenfux has it right. Barring the 3" 2D6 penetration area of the Infernus Pistols, you have nothing that can penetrate AV14, and at 1500 points you are almost guaranteed to encounter heavy armour. Also, the chances of the Guard all arriving in one turn is very unlikely, meaning that the squads that arrive on Turn Two will usually be picked off one by one as they arrive.

DAnte and guard as troops CAN work, but then you really need something to take out transports at range, so your guard can eat the juicy insides. 2-3 4xML devs is a solid choice, and with a priest to give them FNP they are hard to remove at range. Dont mix pistols on the guard, take 2 infernus, as 1 is almost never reliable enough. Also take priests along with them, as you want to make them as survivable as possible. Its possible to deploy your guard at the beginning of the game instead of deep striking, as youll be getting turn 2 assaults anyway, use your devastators to destroy light transports, and a couple of vanguard squads (keep them cheap, a fist and 2 SS maybe) to tie up units as they can charge on the drop. It can work, and its fun to play, as all small elite armies are where every man can be expected to kill many times their own number in enemies, but its not highly competitive. only one inv sv kinda hurts. If you want the count small you could use assault terms and LR redeemer. also if your relying on all deep strike your gonna find trouble quick. Tanks and monsters are gonna eat you quick
