Hey Guys.
Been a bit of a stranger recently.
But as usual, Im having a modelling crisis and I've come crawling back.
Bought Astorath a few weeks ago. Finally got round to drilling and pinning his sorry @$$ and thought hmm not bad for first metal model.
And now, His axe has fallen off...
An my new found pinning skills are useless with such feeble metal work on the handle?
Any help?

You did glue it right?
If you did make sure to cross hatch both ends of the join to allow the superglue to key to the surfaces.
Good luck!

Ill give the cross hatching a go. Its the actuall axe shaft thats broken, so it just broke. Tried glueing once, but will file and cross hatch.
Thanks for the tip.

Whereabouts has it broken? At the axe head or down the shaft?

If I am not in my room, is it still my room? |

Axe head, about one spine section? Spinal disk? thing? away from the power unit.
Everything else has held together fine, just that bit. The bit right at the top, in the middle that everyone can see.

I'd go for pinning with epoxy rather than superglue as it would be weak at that point. You can smooth the epoxy as it dries to help form a bandage layer on the outside then paint over it once set.

Hmm, trouble is the axe is the exact diameter of my drill, and even if i get a small bit, I've nothing to use for a pin.
But I agree, just glueing is probably gonna be an uphill battle.
He may just have to have a big stick for a while.
Know of any good super thin nick nacks to use for pinning?

Best bet then is to replace the shaft completely in that case.

Hmm, Ill ponder that point.
I think i've go some 4mm brass pole somewhere deep in the depths of my bitz box. Ill try glueing again, and then look at a new shaft.
Thanks for the advise, i knew I join this place for a reason.
Much appreciated

@ Joyous Oblivion: Cut diamond patterns into the surfaces of the join so the glue seeps into it and gets a much better hold.
Roughing the surfaces up in any way helps too

No, Phototoxin just loves you that much! but seriously give the epoxy a go, and maybe if you're keen wrap some green stuff 'ribbon' around the shaft for extra strenght and it would still suit the model with all his parchment, otherwise replace the shaft with something and you can always do whatever you think looks good with his axe as long as it's an axe no one will mind, give him a flower if you want! besides how embarrasing would it be to be killed by an angry vampire wielding a giant flower!

If its the shaft thats snapped then i hate to say it, but even if you do manage to glue it then its not going to hold.
2 quick options:
1: Drill out the bottom of the axe head and his hands.
Use some brass rod to make a new axe shaft.
2: Go with a plastic weapon from the sanguinary guard box.
Both options will mean losing a part of the old model, but otherwise you wont get a good enough bond.

@ jack
That was my thinking, I did glue it again with some hatching, and while it hasn't broke off, it doesn't feel like its gonna survive being moved and further than my work desk.
Dont have the sanguinary set, But i've got the brass rod, so as and when it break ill go with that i think.
@ Joyous oblivion
The cross hatching increases the surface are for glue to make contact with. In this case the area pretty puny anyway.
Thanks for all the input guys.
