Hey folks.

I normally hate Counts-As, because everyone ends up using the same things and you have absurd situations where Vulkan is locked in combat with...Vulkan. But it seems like if you want a decent non-Librarian, non-Chaplain Blood Angels HQ, you need to do Counts-As.

So I picked Sanguinor. Trouble is, I'm having a hard time figuring out a background scenario for a normal mortal Space Marine captain to get his statline and ruleset without being an immortal angelic vengeance ghost that descends from the heavens. Anyone have any ideas?

My entire IG army is counts as.

Most of the guardsmen are marines, and all my leman russes are rhinos. My sentinels are carnifexes and my command squad is marneus calgar and his hounour guard.

Nonsense. According to fluff canon, Chuck Norris is the Primarch for the Primarchs.

Unfortunately, there aren't many options that aren't Mary Sue-ish. And I doubt I'll be going with Chuck Norris or Duke Nukem.

Mr. T?

Seriously, just make a cool story up and model him accordingly. No one of importance will care.

Well isnt the Sanguinor already pretty Mary Sue-ish?

You could always just go with Relic Power armour that bestows extra awesome.

It may have been handed down since the Heresy, perhaps it was originally worn by one of (Insert Primarchs name here)'s Honour Guard, who became the first Master of your chapter.

Or experimental Bionics, though that doesnt really seem a Marine-y thing to have IMO.

I would have said so before I saw what you can do with standard Wolf Lords.

You could always just go with Relic Power armour that bestows extra awesome.

I like that.

yea i would go with something like this. he has been bionically enhanced so he is extremely good at fighting, but for soem reason the bionics arent mainstream yet. maybe its why he comes in late (he does right?)

i think just think of something cool and run with it

He could be the BA equivalent of a BT Emperor's champion? A soldier has a dream in which it is foretold that the upcoming battle will be the prettiest and bloodiest to date. Said soldier is given all sorts of awesome relics (sword, armour etc). I mean, the EC is practically a basic marine, but still has better WS and armour save than his superiors.
