Kind of an odd question here. So the Space Wolves are somewhat Norse in their inspiration, the Ultramarines are Greco-Roman, etc. Just wondering if there's a Space Marine chapter out there that's identifiably Germanic in flavor? Either pagan barbarian Germanic, or all the way up to Prussian?

Not to my knowledge, although there's WW1 and WW2 Germany present in the Imperial Guard. Somebody a while ago did a really gorgeous WW1 army for their IG.

Not that i can think of but if you created your own chapter and used the SW codex i think you could get the results you want.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

I'm a little unsure of using the SW Codex to do Counts-As for a non-SW chapter. It's just so...Wolf-oriented. Same for BA, which I'd be even happier to do.

I have not heard of any that are Germanic, Best way to do this is make your own.

and once you get the Role Play for the chapter, use whatever SM book kind of fits your RP.

or use the vanilla SM book since that is more or less 'Universal'

Forget Germanic. If we are talking flavor, I want some Salt & Vinegar Marines.

Hi there, I'm an hole! =D

"Links disintegrate--
Bolt clanks back and forth behind the thudding roar--
Brass rains on the sidewalk--
The 'sixty rattles out its song.
A song I first heard years ago--
Of fireteams dug in on the breaks between the paddyfields, of tracer lasering the jungle night, of Hueys screaming through the void--
Of Lieutenant Castle getting short and hating it, wanting 'Nam to last forever--
A lullaby come all the way to New York City--
Come to sing you to sleep."

A lot of the Chaos Space marine stuff has Germanic influence. It's more clear in whfb but it's there in 40k too.

Black Templars are loosly based off of the Knights Templar, from the Crusades. Oddly fitting due to the rampant racism displayed during the period, by both sides.

You could easily make a Teutonic style black templar force. As said they're all about crusading so would really fit with their style.

Haha i just finnished up there codex this morning...and i think the templars are the closest thing you going to find of a German influenced SM
force but there more like the holy roman empire but as for pagan Germanic barbarians the wolves are a perfect proxy... and here is a link to where starting a fandex for Mr.nids Emperor's Shields

mmm yes, you can, anyway im impelled to remind that crusades and templars came along more countries apart from Germany. Spain and France played a major role in them, and all of them were a bunch of badass zealots

The Teutonic Templars. Oh yes that would be Amazing, "Panzer" Class Predators or "King Tiger" Land Raiders.
The Chapter master would have a huge Hammer and be called "Sigmar", "Seigfied" or "Manfred". "Red Baron" FTW.
IG had the Death Korps of Krieg which is basically WW1 German Sturmtroopers.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

Templar were french in origin. But they became so wide spread that it wouldn't be abnormal for there to be germanic Templar.

Quite true. I based my variant Templar chapter after the color pattern used by a Portuguese knightly order.

No mention of White Scars? They got the mongol vibe going on. Can't think of anything else at the moment (in terms of SM that is)

Mongol isn't German though, hence no mention.
Black Templars certainly are the Teutonic reference of 40K, as for a more barbaric German 'flavoured' chapter, that doesn't really fit in with SM. Not without being too similar to SW.
