Well, it is that time of year again. With the threat of snow already looming over the dark horizon like a black cloud from hades itself, I am starting to plan this years winter 40k project.

Last year I built some terrain boards for the flgs to help pass the winter. This year, I am planning to build something abit cooler that nobody else around my parts has atm.

Let me give you all a hint:

Thats right... I'm inspired to try my hand at building a Warlord Titan.

Why?

Cause they are frigging cool as hell... and 40k Apoc is about all I play GW anymore. (Mainly due to the fact that my Army is now only Apoc legal anymore )

So to start, I need some help in the following.

A: I know that there are printable blueprints for these things. Anyone got any handy? And for those that have used them before, how good are they?

B: I want this thing to be slightly bigger then a FW reaver. Mainly cause I want to be able to move/use the dang thing. Also to save on weight, what would be a good base construction material? (IE Foam, wood, pvc, ect ect)

C: Anyone know of anyone selling "Cheaters" so to speak that may help save on time? (IE legs, weapons, head ect ect)

Once I actually start this dang thing, I will make a new P&M thread to track it's progress. Until then, I am going to pick the collective users brains to make this as painless as possible.

Ok, an update:

After some searching online, I have decided to use the bwc Yahoo group with printable templates for a warlord titan. I would assume that these are simple Cut/copy/paste style that you just lay over your mats and go from there.

Still looking for advice from people that have worked these BWC templates before on how they feel about them.

Also looks like I will be useing a combination of foamboard and plasticard for this project. With possibly PVC for the main support skeleton. I am also toying around with the idea of makeing it all in smaller sections, and then casting those in resin. That way if I want to make more, or replace parts, I can on the easy.

Here is a link to someone elses work useing the templates that is very insightfull, and proves what can be done:

Is it me or does this warlord look like he's got a great bushy moustache?

As for materials, I'd say go with a wood skeleton with foamboard skinned with thick p-card for materials, oh and good luck! will be watching the progress.

It makes him look like Scruffy from Futurama.

Also, check out the bwc archives (Yahoo groups) they have multiple guides for Warlords. Warhounds too, I'm thinking of getting some thin plasticard and having a bash myself.

Hmmm,

I have to ask...

Why all the hate on the new model vs the old one?

(To be honest, I don't even think I have ever seen anyone do the old school version before.)

yeah, i'm not seeing why either. the old one looks like it has pac men for guns and a big old hairy mustache on its face. the new one is an improvement looks-wise. is it out of scale or something?

Ok I'll stop trolling now...

I think both titans are equally nice, I just prefer the newer ones. Perhaps the newer warlords would be easier to scratchbuild, due to the more flat and angular structure, whereas the older ones are much more rounded, but would look equally as good on the table!
