'ello everyone!!
There comes a time in every
40k enthusiast's life when they ask themselves "Have I gone too far?" When you decide to scratchbuild a Warlord Titan that time is long-gone! And when you decide to build a team of them you should just get yourself committed!
So, coming to you live from the mental institute is the begining of my Warlord Titan
WIP Thread!
I plan on building at least 3 of these to sell & then possibly building one for my self or my roommate. I plan on making these disassemblable, posable & will be selling the body & weapons separate for customizing.
So far I've started on the skeletal structure & got the foamcore cut into pieces for a template for the body armor.
I started with pvc for the skeleton:
but was recommended by a friend to go with something more structural & solid for an internal frame so, per his advisal I went with Angliron & 1/4" bolts:
lazy fugger. soon as he gets in the house, just sits on the couch & kick his feet off
I plan on fuzing the bolts to exterior pieces of the model so you can actually disassemble & adjust the pose of it. Shuold also help with shipping.
Now as for the armor & cut out all the pieces from 1/4" thick foamcore, traced them & cut out another set so as to have a master mold, so-to-speak.
Then loosely taped them together to get the form of the body:
however then I realized that the body panels that were for the head visor & leg armor looked a little chinsey at 1/4" so rather than scrap them for 1/2" (which I plan on doing with the next one

) I traced & cut out sheets of styrofoam & lined them with posterboard & tape to make them a little more streamlined:
they look like ice cream sandwiches!
Now these were cut with an exacto, but the same friend who advised me to use angleiron not only let me borrow his drill press, but also showed me a SICK way to cut styrofoam:
WITH ELECTRICITY!!

Attach a simple 12v 2amp car battery charger to a wooden, non-conductive frame & a guitar string & you have the world's most awesomest butterknife! And it works pretty dam well!
So now I'm currently working on contructing/reinforcing the interior of the body & the legs before I affix the armor to it.
That & working on the feet:
yes, the blue things are 4/0 fixture boxes
So that's all for right now. As I said I plan on selling the first few of these so rather than go for a Nurgle Titan, this one is going to be Black Legion
C&C welcome as always. Should have some shots of it that look more like a Titan soon.
