♪EVERYBODY WAS BUIL-DING TI-TANS!♪
♪Destructor hits as fast as light-ning!♪
'ello everyone!!
There comes a time in every 40k enthusiast's life when they ask themselves "Have I gone too far?" When you decide to scratchbuild a Warlord Titan that time is long-gone! And when you decide to build a team of them you should just get yourself committed!
So, coming to you live from the mental institute is the begining of my Warlord Titan WIP Thread!
I plan on building at least 3 of these to sell & then possibly building one for my self or my roommate. I plan on making these disassemblable, posable & will be selling the body & weapons separate for customizing.
So far I've started on the skeletal structure & got the foamcore cut into pieces for a template for the body armor.
I started with pvc for the skeleton:

but was recommended by a friend to go with something more structural & solid for an internal frame so, per his advisal I went with Angliron & 1/4" bolts:

lazy fugger. soon as he gets in the house, just sits on the couch & kick his feet off

I plan on fuzing the bolts to exterior pieces of the model so you can actually disassemble & adjust the pose of it. Shuold also help with shipping.

Now as for the armor & cut out all the pieces from 1/4" thick foamcore, traced them & cut out another set so as to have a master mold, so-to-speak.

Then loosely taped them together to get the form of the body:

however then I realized that the body panels that were for the head visor & leg armor looked a little chinsey at 1/4" so rather than scrap them for 1/2" (which I plan on doing with the next one ) I traced & cut out sheets of styrofoam & lined them with posterboard & tape to make them a little more streamlined:

they look like ice cream sandwiches!
Now these were cut with an exacto, but the same friend who advised me to use angleiron not only let me borrow his drill press, but also showed me a SICK way to cut styrofoam:

WITH ELECTRICITY!! Attach a simple 12v 2amp car battery charger to a wooden, non-conductive frame & a guitar string & you have the world's most awesomest butterknife! And it works pretty dam well!

So now I'm currently working on contructing/reinforcing the interior of the body & the legs before I affix the armor to it.
That & working on the feet:

yes, the blue things are 4/0 fixture boxes
So that's all for right now. As I said I plan on selling the first few of these so rather than go for a Nurgle Titan, this one is going to be Black Legion
C&C welcome as always. Should have some shots of it that look more like a Titan soon.

"Within microseconds, the post-hypnotic implants in the subconscious portions of his brain were already running the pre-deployment checks, and the insides of his eyeballs lit up with telemetry data, weapon readiness status, fuel levels and a million other nuggets of information that would allow him to command this beautiful, wonderful Titan. Yeah, it's been stuck in my head for like 2 days now. Think I'munna change the title of this thread to prevent any further insanity.
Update time!
So, last night I cut out the shape of the feet from foamcore, basically the base of the legs & will be adding more structire to the toes later. I couldn't help but notice that your standard Warlord has 8 toes in the pattern of a Chaos star. So why not ad arrow points to the toes right?

That's why! Pain in the ass!
But I did it!

On both feet too!

And then there's the styrofoam reinforcement for the legs & body, just placed on for now. Nothing glued in place. Next is addding more reinforcement to the feet & legs as they are going to be holding all the weight. I need more Locktite!

Can't wait until I can start adding the stuff that makes this thing look like an actual titan

Iiiiiiiit's update time!

So yeah... updates n' stuff.
Been working on the legs, starting from the ground up so to speak. I decided to scrap the idea of the 4/0 boxes. Too bulky & unnecessary. I also lowered the legs about 2-3" since this thing was looking like it was going to end up being 42" tall! O-O

plus this way if I make sure to make the bolts accessible for adjusting the feet.

Next I added some metal bits to the interior should anyone ever actually care to take this thing apart & take a look inside

Here's what I've got so far on the 2 legs:

and a thigh piece in progress

And here we have a rough sketch of what I hope the finished product will look like. I got a buddy that has some extra circular saw blades that are old & dull so I can use 'em for the CC Weapon. That or a mini chainsaw.

This is what it will idealy look like when it's finished. Since it's a Black Legion Titan I went for black, gold, spikey & lots of Chaos stars. Was thinking of painting if not making a raised decal of an offset Chaos star across the body starting at the lower left corner & I'd like to make the head with 1 big eye so as to make it look like the BL Logo of an eye in the middle of a Chaos star & plan on painting it with high gloss black paint to give it that soulless look.

and last but not least a little sneak preview of what I plan on doing with the groin area:

Yeah. It is what you think it is

Holy poo on a stick! People DO dig through the P&M Blogs!
@ MeatShield: Damn skriaght crushing Aquillas! Think I may actualy have to get some Grey Knights for corpses around the base of this one >:]|] What am I doing reading this? Unfortunately helping jaggoffs fix their computers at work. But that doesn't stop me from brining it in & working on it here
@ sennacherib: 1000 miles indeed!
@ IronfrontAlex: Thanks! Just a quick sketch I whipped up cuz I was tired of people looking at the foot I was working on & asking WTF is that!?
@ Xenon: How many cores do you have? lol nerd humor. But thanks! I wish I had more to work with like a lathe or resin molding kit, but hey. End result right? I'll see if I can get some more progress pics up soon.
btw does anyone think the TL bolter porthole in the crotch is a little too much?
