Hey everyone,

Just a quick note that we're hosting our normal 'second Saturday' GW tournament this Saturday, September 11th. Sorry for this being so 'last-minute', the Holiday weekend was a doozy!

On the 40k side, we'll be continuing with the streamlined, 'thumbs-up/thumbs down' format for scoring with 20 Battle Points possible each round. This went really well last time and I'm happy enough with it to adopt it for the foreseeable future. From a TO's viewpoint, scoring was a lot smoother overall with less of the 'last minute swing' that can happen. The guy who went 3-0 won, hands down.

For Fantasy Battle, we will be running the new 8th edition at 2500 points.

For both events, we will be running 3 rounds starting at 10:00am, with a $10 entry (or $20 GW purchase). There will be prizes for Best Overall, Best General, Best Sportsman, and Best Army at a 90-20-20-20 split in GW Product.

The schedule will stick as closely as possible to the following:
9:00am - 10:15 - check-in, sign-up, event preamble, pairings
10:15am - 12:30pm - Round 1
12:30 - 1:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 3:15 - Round 2
3:30 - 5:45 - Round 3
6:00 - Winners announced

It all goes down at Game Empire Pasadena
2302 E. Colorado Blvd.
Pasadena, CA. 91107
626-304-9333

If you have any questions, let me know and hopefully I'll see you there!

I may be in LA this weekend and I am seriously considering coming to this event. Do I need to call ahead and reserve a spot? Do you have any restrictions on named character use on the 40k side? What would your ruling be on using a Storm Raven? What would it have to look like to be a use-able model? I only ask because I recently played in a tournament and the some one brought a coffee can on a stick as a Storm Raven (I may be exaggerating a little but the sad part is, it's only a little...) Do you use the 3 color rule for painting? Only half my 2k BA list is painted to high standards the rest is table top. Is the rest of the field fully painted? Or is it not even worth showing up with only 1/2 full paint and 1/2 3-5 color?

3k Daemons
2k IG (not Leaf Blower)
4k Vanilla Marines
1k of a budding Tyranid brood any suggestions on what to do with Tyranids?

Bare plastic is not uncommon, and the guy who won had unpainted models, so you should be fine paint wise

Is the 40K RTT 2000 points?

BTW, does anyone know if the tanning salon next to the game store is open on Saturdays?

Ya Darrian it's 2k on the 40k side. I am not sure about the tanning salon though.

Who won?

I figured you'd come back to 40K eventually, Darrian. Good to hear you're back in the game. Hopefully we'll get a game in at a tournament.

A mech guard player won.

It is good to be back. I spent the last 2 years trapped at my computer playing WoW. I have finally kicked that habit

I hope we can get a game up soon. LMK when you are at the next RTT.

Man, I made the last Game Empire RTT, but I had to work today...bummer, it would have been good to see you again.

You should go to the Aero Hobbies RTT next weekend. They still had one or two spots left when I signed up yesterday.

dude, dude, you need to get the werd out sooner. If it wasn't for blackmoor and my being drunk on the internets late at night, I wouldn't have known that this had happened. Had I known 24 hours earlier, I would have been all over this gak. Even if it meant running my orks which have 6 trukks since I have a masochistic streak, cause its my only fully painted army.

TL;dr: if you are having a tournament, bump the feth out of that gak in advanced so that players in major cities nearby know what the feth is going on before its too fething too late. and they're really drunk/

hey hey, what's with the censorship, I can tell you my post had real profanity, as used by real men, not this gak and feth bs. Unlike Dan Abnett, I am bit afraud of offending anonymous parents who don't pay enough attention to what their kids do online.

Hell, if it weren't for dakka spell cheker, I would probably haven the site's grammar nazis all pissed off, hell, I still might.

@Darrian
Yeah, i heard you got bitten by the WoW bug. I steer clear of MMO's like the plague as they are so addicting.

I will definitely let you know when I'm at another RTT. The broadside bash is the next big SoCal GT, a lot of guys will be at that one if you can make it.

@Yakface, I will try to make the Aero RTT next weekend.

I regularly take 3-4 months off and then play for a month or 2 and then take them off again. Granted that doesn't take into account expansions where I'll play for around 5-6 months. Damn addictions....

These online MMOs can be addictive. I never played WOW by I was an avid Guild Wars player. I still have Guild Wars, Atlantica and Runes of Magic on my computer which I can resist well enough. It is Dakka Dakka that has the greater pull on me now.

I played Everquest when that came out and I was so hooked on it. After that, I promised myself I would never play another MMO.

I like the social interaction of Wargaming. I don't play video games anymore apart from maybe once a month or every two months. I just don't like them that much. When I paint a mini, I have that for life. A video game is only cool for a few years, tops. Then a newer and better one comes out. All the hours spent on it are hours wasted.

I Just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who came out, it was a blast and a great pleasure to see some luminaries back in action. I hope all who attended had a good time, and I look forward to the next one, for which I will definitely post up a notice here sooner (as a matter of fact, just in case, it's on Saturday, October 9).

Throughout the event I did a series of round-by-round updates with pictures, and now that I'm back from my weekend and have to start thinking about gaming again, I finished the last part of the coverage with the final standings. All four parts can be viewed here: http://captureandcontrol.blogspot.com/

Thanks again to everyone, October promises to be a good event so I hope to see you all there!

Thanks man! I'm somewhat personally invested in making the models look good, since I painted some of them!

@ Dr. PoM; Unfortunately we did not have a WHFB event last week. Everybody that showed up was looking to play 40k.
