It is from a really old metal Dreadnought I am no longer using and was missing pieces.
I thought this would make an awesome capture point / piece of terrain.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get him into whatever you're using for the hill? It looks great and I might want to do something similar with a very badly damaged basilisk that I have.

It is made from 1" thick blue foam insulation. I first used an exacto knife to bore out the basic shapes where I wanted him to go and used a hot foam knife to cut out the shape and the little cuts in the side. I then check the depths of the holes to make sure they were deep enough and finished the sanding and hard edges on the foam.
The model was then covered up with a bunch of green stuff, I use Vaseline to keep the surface smooth and minimize the markings and just basically covered up the holes to it was basically level and so there were small mounds. Once the green stuff dried, I painted the foam and green stuff with a crappy brown paint I had because black primer eats away the foam.
Primed it black and used pva/elmers glue to put sand on the top. painted the sand and foam scorched brown, and highlighted w/ bestial brown and elf flesh.
I am thinking about cutting in some battle damage that I didn't think of before inserting the model, i.e. bullet holes and some gashes in the chassis.

Thats a sweet model! The capture point elemt in great. All the SM fluff is about dreaddys and terminator armour to be "thousads of years old" that to loose in battle would discrace the whole chapter! A good colour scheme would be crimson fists I whink. Not only because i used to collect them >< but they are a very "beaten" chapter. IT would be in their character to be scrounging for a lost dready. Plus the scheme looks awsome!

I really like that piece, if you have any Marine players in the area, paint it up in their scheme! As for the expensiveness of the terrain piece...I can't remember who did it, but there's a wrecked Stompa and Baneblade floating around here somewhere, hopefully that person reads this post and reveals themselves again!

Both expensive and awesome at the same time!
Looks like he took a krak round to the joy department!
My only worry is that the sides look a little tall, but that may just be perspective, maybe make the slope on the sides a bit gentler so that a unit running up won't need some blu-tak to stay put lol

Yes that dreadnought wont be fighting the enemy of man any more. What did you base the dreadnought model into?

The sides ARE a little too tall. I have been contemplating ways to get around this.
Chapter I am going to paint it might end up being Dark Angels since my friend plays DA but...it doesn't look very DA'y so I may paint it to match the Ultramarine army I may one day paint.
Hmm..perhaps making part of it look like an excavation could be cool as well..but how to do that is beyond me.
