just wondering on this one, when you declare a stand and shoot charge reaction, when exactly do the firing troops open fire? do they shoot as soon as the the charger moves or do they fire when the unit hits half range? ie: unit A is 16" away from unit B. A declares charge and B stands and shoots. A gets sucsessful charge, but if B has 18" weapons when do they fire? would they wait untill the target gets to within 9" before loosing arrows, or do they shoot immediatly? the only thing i could find was that if a charge is failed, its assumed the charger gets to within max range of the firing unit before being driven off, but dosent seem to apply to a unit already within firing range but over half range or long range targets (making for a -2 to hit the target in this case, making stand and shoot very likley of NOT suceeding)

sorry also adding question 2. (instead of new thread) the alter of skulls special hill. it states that a model can embrace chaos and ona 2+ increase a random stat by d3. is this a limit of 1 per game, or can a model feasably stand on this alter and "juice up" for a few turns?

It now states they fire immediately, BEFORE the unit moves, even if you are outside of range - it just states you fire as soon as possible.

So if you have a 24" range unit and are being charged from 25" away, you fire before they move, even though this is technically out of range. This is because if you cause a panic it simplifies the whole sequence

If you have a mixed range unit, say handguns with a pistol champ, then you wait until the target is in range of every weapon. This means the handguns will be at half range, however you again fire immediately - you no longer, unlike 7th, move, stop and resolve s&s, continue charge / flee.

Q2 - yes, you can keep standing there. IT prohibits you from pretty much doing anything else though, and a 1/6th chance of being gone for good...

As per my understanding when it comes to stand & shoot you have to fire, it depends upon the range of weapon.
