I really really want a transport that can carry jump infrantry, but i don't want to spend alot- are there any alternatives to buying a stormlord?

You could build your own stormraven gunship out of the BA codex.

he doesn't want to spend the 100USD on a Stormlord, what makes you think he wants to spend about 400USD on a T-hawk.
OP: The only available transport for Jump-pack equipped Assault marines is the storm lord or a super-heavy.
That said my only advice is this: use their speed and mobility to hide them; send them down field "terrain-hopping" (behind not into) until that last leg where they are assaulting. Use your other vehicles as LOS-Blockers whenever you are need to enter an area that is clear of Cover/hard terrain.

You can build a Stormraven out of cardboard. Just use the thunderhawk as a model and shrink it down. Automatically Appended Next Post: I can post a pic later of my Stormraven. It's not painted but you can see how it looks.

If its not a tourney and depending on how friendly the locals are:
How about the transport variant of the Land Speeder that the Scouts use - the Storm? (p 75 of the SM Codex)
I am sure a suitable conversion could look pretty cool ?
maybe drop the Jammming beacon to gain space - just an idea

p.s: how many jump infrantry can the SR carry?

please do. i need inspiration
oh yeah- i would terrain hop, but my plan is this- shrike and korvadre with them infiltrating 18" away- fly 12", fleet, and assault 6". no matter what i roll to fleet, i'll always be able to assault- with furious charge!!

Poor dread, the pilot forgot to drop him off.
But yeah, go scratch-build a stormraven. There's no official model anyway so it's not like tourney organizers can be THAT picky, can they?

Can't you put assault squads in Razorbacks? Turbo boosting vehicles are better than walking on, in any case and it's a damn cheap tank.

i would, but knowing me, i'd get right to the last bit, then mess it up, or i'll spend loads of time on it- just to realise i hadn't measured properly in the first place, making huge gaps.
and anyways- i wanna do this for 15 men- not 6.
i'll have a look at what i can come up with.
hey- maybe i can convert a tank (not neccessarily from 40k), and create my own rules!

i was thinking something like this, but without the trimmings- 2 razorbacks stuck together. with plasticard. And a 16- man transport capacity (jump infrantry only count as one).
waddya think?
reasonable?
and does anyone know where to get plasticard from? (i just want enough to do this with).

You can, but there's virtually no reason to.
You can leave their jump packs on, move 12" in the movement phase, and run 6" until you're in assault range, at which point you move 12" and assault 6".
Or you can remove their jump packs, put them in a Razorback, which moves 12" (if you don't want to fire any weapons). Then when you want to assault, you get to disembark and sit and get shot at for a full turn before you can assault.
Plus, jump packs allow you to DS.
I'll take jump packs.

Okay- first off- i want a transport not coz they're better in gaming terms, but because i like the idea. Secondly- i have no intention of removing thier jump packs. Lastly, because i have shrike in the squad, i have fleet, not run.
the squad i am transporting is:
Areth Caan (my chapter master)
3rd Captain Shrike
10th Captain Korvydae
1st Captain Corvus
8th Captain Mantor
Vanguard veteran squad Fennon (10 men)

Well, if you "have no intention of removing their jump packs," you're going to have to run BA and use a Stormraven.
That's the only way to do it within the normal rules.

I WOULDN'T BE USING 5 HQ CHOICES IF IT WAS NORMAL 40K, THE STORMRAVEN CARRIES 6, NOT THE 15 I LISTED, AND I SPECIFICALLY SAID I WAS GOING TO MAKE APOCALYPSE RULES FOR THE TWIN RHINO.

Only Fast vehicles can move Flat Out. Regular vehicles only move at maximum of 18" moving Flat Out (unless on a road, in which case 24"), and Skimmers move a maximum of 24" regardless of roads (and ignoring fancy wargear like Star Engines that move in non-Movement phases).

Not to be a Negative Nelly, but regular vehicles can't go faster than 12" unless they are on a road then they can go 18" or have some wacky special rule.

Er, you may want to check your rules again.
Regular fast vehicles can go 18" when moving Flat Out, or 24" on a road.
Fast skimmers can move 24" when moving Flat Out, regardless of the presence of a road.
Nurglitch is 100% correct.

Also they still have run, all fleet alows you to do is still charge after running.
There really isn't that much of a choice to transport jump infantry anyway. Also just infiltrate them with Shrike I guess.
