I played a game yesterday against a good friend of mine who was testing out his ravenguard for the first time! I managed to annihilate his 3 tacticals and one of his assault squads! The match was capture and control. But anyway, here is my list!(forgive my lack of points posting but im in work on a break so don't have the points list with me)

HQ- Libby - Blood Boil, Sword of Sanquinus

Troops - 10xAssault Marines 2xMelta 1xMeltabombs in LR Redeemer w/multimelta
- 5xAssault Marines 1xMelta 1xMeltabombs in TLLC Razorback
- 10x Tactical Marines 1xMelta 1xMeltabombs in Rhino

Heavy Support - 2x Vindicators w/stormbolter + HK Missile

Fast Attack - 2x Baal Preds w/Flamestorm, HB sponsons.

Feel free to nit pick, this was my first serious fight with the blood angels and i am pleased with how it went! But if any improvements can be made that would be super, i couldn't get my melta anywhere near his vinidicators as he managed to immobilise all my armour which created massive gridlock man!!!

But yes, feel free to C+C

I assume the librarian went with the big assault squad in the landraider
If that;s the case then you might have considered Unleash Rage as a good power for them. a librarian on his own (even with Sanguine Sword) isn't as good as 10 maddened assault marines.

Land Raider Redeemer w. MM
Personally I think the Redeemer isn't as good as the Crusader by YMMV on this.
I think in future you might consider extra armour as an idea if you continue with redeemer. otherwise you'll find you can't move into range of getting your flamestorms up and running.

Tactical Marines in a rhino.
Tactical Marines in a BA list? WHY?
Better to take 10 assault marines with 2 melta guns and get a rhino at a discount.

Razorback: Was this targeted by a lot of your enemy;s heavy weapons? being only AV11 but toting a t-l lascannon I would have. Either change the tactical squad to another 5 man squad razorback or drop the razorback for a rhino and get some more assault marines in the squad.

Baal Predators:

Nothing wong here.....HB sponsons aren't the best but they work on a Baal.

Hmm I would swap Redeemer for crusader. Seems to compliment the assault marines more

Flamestorm baals dont really need sponsons, they should be going as fast as possible to burn things

Change tacs to assault, Maybe give them a power fist of sorts. I would try to find a way to insert a sang priest somewhere

Thanks guys, it was fun a game and after 7 turns we called it a draw, i will try the crusader next time!

Librarian went with the razorback assault squad but will put him with the LR assault squad next time. The reason i went tactical, is because i only have say 20 Assault Marines made up in total and 20 odd tacticals also, i am fairly new to the hobby and learning more everyday about blood angels, my first try out with them had a list with the sanguinor and lemartes and a death company!!!!

I was thinking of replacing the vindicators with autocannon preds with lascannon sponsons for a more ranged attack to support my assault marines. I could also use Autocannon dreds for this purpose. Im trying to compose an all round list, but i mainly play my friend who plays Space Wolves / Ravenguard.

I like the army list however I would go easy on the tanks m8. IMHO To be fair tanks suck, they provide power and destructive ability but 1 ig heavy weps team with Missle leanucher (about 20pts) could take it out. THe new (well most recent) SM codex tries to put the armys in the direction of tonns of tac squads. But hey I could be wrong I have never taken an SM tank heavy army to the field so i cannot really sau much, but get more troops b4 you get more tanks.

Yeh, i've been told Assault Squads is usually the way forward, but i just like the idea of having maybe two predators sitting back and supporting my advancing troops, the vindicators have to get up close really to do the damage then they run the risk of being ripped open a la powerfist!!!

1: Allways take a storm bolter.
That weapon destroyed result, then any more damage and its dead.
The cheap storm bolter makes it last longer.

What do you mean if something is close enough?
Its a fething demolisher cannon, it has the same range as the storm bolter.

More assault marines - allways good.
HK missiles - pointless waste of a single shot weapon.
Its the same points as a meltagun, and i know which i'd take.




Ok, that aside now

Libby - not bad, but i'd really replace boil with lance or unleash.

Tacs - replace them with assaults.
All in all they work out cheaper, and with the option of 2 special weapons they are alot more mobile when shooting.

Baal's - not so much a must change, but tinker with running one with H.flamer sponsons for a game or 2.
Ive found the results much better. (lets face it, bolters arent for range since your wasting the main weapon)
However, you could allways run 1 pure flame and the other pure slug.

Vindi's - Said my piece on these so far, but keep them no matter what.
Ive found my 2 priceless so far with the amount of damage they do.

Redeemer - I find alot of people hate them, but i take 1 for my DC (love the fluff, love the models, hate the rules) and so far it works great.
Get a good line with the flamestorms and you can crisp the best part of a marine unit, or line it up well enough and burn holes in boyz units.


all in all though, doesent need many changes.

2 Vindicators are great, 3 are even better.

Ok, so drop the HKs and drop the Storm Bolter. I have toyed with the idea of AC Baal w/ HB and FS Baal w/ HF sponsons. I just like the flamestorm cannons marine killing power, hench the two of them plus a LR Redeemer!!!

A query on the BA Codex for the vindicator, its lists in the wargear column: DC SB + Smoke Launchers. Does this equate to having the DC and SB for the 145 points or do i have to pay the extra ten points???

Can anyone suggest working in one or two sanguinary priests into this list, i've been reading up on them and like the idea of feel no pain and furious charge for my assault troops.

As for my librarian i think unleash rage will be a good addition in future!!!

Of course they wont take off the bolter, but it allows it to survive another damage before being popped.
Its nothing like a rhino.
Its AV13 at the front, which makes it ideal for either tank shocking or ramming, which a rhino would kill its self doing.




Nial: It comes with one as standard, you can these for buy a 2nd one.

To be honest, the base core of the army needs to stay, so best bet would be to cut a baal.
This would lose a bit of firepower though, but your army may last longer.

Failing that, buy a unit of honour guard.
Give them a transport and 2 meltaguns.
You then have a unit with a blood chalice as standard, and is mobile enough to pop armour.

Indeed Jack, may drop a baal and add honour guard in for a wee spin next match!

Sanguinary Priests are good with assault troops.
Just be careful about blast weapons cause FnP is gonna SUCK if that happens.
I'm feeling no pain even though 5000 tonnes of TNT is exploding around me.......hmmmm

Feedback, I would drop the single Land Raider switch all Rhinos to Razorbacks and run with that. So you have:

I've missed wargear off but I'd make those Razorbacks probably las/plas for anti tank and monstrous creature. Throw on a meltagun on the troops. Maybe switch the Baals to assault cannons but you do need anti troop. Vindicators don't need storm bolter as when it gets weapon destroyed the cannon will always be taken and then it's just a armour 13 Rhino which will be ignored storm bolter or not, if you have 10 points then go ahead if not don't bother. Oh, Angels should always have Priests even if mech because Razorbacks aren't tough and when you get popped out only 5 men - they won't last long.

Thank guys liking these options very much! I'm sure my friend won't know what hits him. I like the sound of the las/plas option but i don't know how to make one! I'm sure i could proxy it! but does anyone out there have one??

Easiest way i found to make las/plas is to use the twin linked las the razorback model comes with, chop one of the lascannons off, and glue on too regular plasma guns.

I used the ones that came on my space wolves sprues, and just chopped off the hands and filed down a few areas. Its not hard at all, and ends up looking pretty nice.

As Jcd386 said, just remove one lascannon and stick on two plasma guns and then throw the cover on top.

So i ordered some bits and i have almost completed the las/plas im just wondering how far up or down the las do i glue on the two plasma guns. having trouble sourcing the cover piece or the pintle mount though! any of you guys have a picture you could post of your las/plas??

i wouldn't think you attach the plasma guns to the lascannon. Look at a Predator Autocannon turret. Where the targeter is that's where the plasma guns go.

The Sanguinary Priests were a good add to the list with the furious charge and feel no pain rules working very well for my closecombat army. The game went to 7 turns and in the end my opponent had two vindicators with no demolisher cannons and one storm bolter between them. I was pretty pleased as my vindicators didn't last very long, so i may look to swap them out for either more assault troops or ranged firepower. Anyway, for your perusal here is my revised list

1x Furioso Dread w/ blood talons 125 points

1x Dreadnaught w/ autocannon 115 points

Fast Attack - 2x Flamestorm Baals w/ HB SS 290 points


All adds up to a tasty 1752 points, i had a lot of fun with this army list, but my heavy armour always seems to get taken out quickly, my two vindicators did nothing and my land raider suffered an immobilised result which meant it was out of range to do any damage!!!!

So using my above list, could anyone make suggestions and trimmings to come up with a nice blood angels 1750 list for tournament i may go to at the weekend???
