Here is an Eldar Avatar that I painted up recently for a client. He wanted me to mostly stick with the studio color scheme.

It is kind of strange to paint this one after you've done one of the forge world Avatars. Everything is so much smaller, and a lot of the details seem squished together, mostly because the Forge World minis had enough room to spread them out.

Looks good. I think you captured the "I'm made of liquid-hot magma" spirit of the Avatar pretty well. Also, I'm diggin the blending on the horn-thingys.
I agree, however, that once you've painted a Forgeworld version of anything, you can never go back. My Bloodthirster and Keeper of Secrets will testify to that.

That is essentially a localized Object Source Lighting effect. The center is bright yellow, almost white, while the colors become more orange and red moving out from there. I figured that the Avatar is made from the same metal inside and out, so it made sense that the orange/red should blend into the black rather than have any harsh lines. Letting the color spill over like that created the glowing look.
