Ok, so I've managed to come into posession of a bunch of random miniatures, and I'm looking to sell them to go towards a 40K Chaos Daemons army that I'm going to start. The models are a mix of OOP 80s Citadel miniatures, slightly newer 90s Citadel miniatures, some old Marauder miniatures, and even some bearing the Grenadier (miniatures?) imprint which look to be pre-slotta base. All are unpainted and in mint condition (although unboxed).

My question is this: Should I sell them all together as a job-lot, should I split them into smaller lots, or should I try to flog them seperately? I've never sold anything on ebay before - I'm usually the buyer! Also, if anyone has any ideas as to how much I should sell them for, that would be a help too.

'Sell them all to me for 1p!'-type posts will not be enthusiastically recieved...

Singles are the way to go, lots end up taking multiple reposts to move most times. Not everyone wants EVERY oop model you have, but some may be worth big bucks alone.

Definatley singles, as aerethan says. Be aware that if its over 100 items ebay will start charging you to list them, plus the sale fee. However if you got units, sell them at thier min requirement to feild in a game.

Would be intrested in what you got. Let me know once you got em up.

Thanks for the advice - think I'll give them a whirl as single models.

I'll let you know when they're up, Eberious.

Lots of single lots, preferably overpriced an labeled as pro-painted an rare OOP models that are widely sought after by gamers and collectors alike.

That's how we do on ebay.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

Woah! I didn't say they were particularly 'rare' - just OOP. Although I suppose that does make them a little rare...

I'll post a link when I put them up.

If you haven't put them up yet...

From an experienced seller:

Don't do singles, you will pay to much in listing fees.

You will also do a lot more legwork that way, having to deal with N emails, buyers and packages. Where N is the number of auctions you post.

But don't post them all up in one lot either.

The best price break point is $9.99 where you get the maximum start price for the lowest listing fee per lot.

Higher starting prices cost more to list and lower ones cost the same anyway.

Organize your lots into what you think is worth about $20 realisticaly, then post them as auctions starting at 9.99, or about half the value, multiple people will see them, they should all sell as a great value and hopefully you will get multiple buyers and cross polination where buyers interested in one are also interested in others.

The key:

MUST TAKE GOOD PICTURES!

Almost everything is in the presentation, anything blurry works against you. Take images of both sides!

Also do research and find out what they are, and put it in your lot, people will know on eBay. They will key off of description search terms, it is vital! For example if you list:

1 Old GW elf model OOP

vs.

1989 Games Workshop Dark Elf Metal Elric

You will get completely different results.

Good luck.

Oh friendly advice: post images in the trades forum here, you will probably get a reasonable offer.

+1 to Augustus' comments.

Also, being in the UK/Europe or USA will help.

I have around 40 Rogue Trader era chaos warriors and champions that have never been touched except taken out of the packaging and they will not fetch what they are worth with International buyers due to the shipping. Locally, Aussies are cheap and will not pay half what something is worth, even on Ebay.

Now for these items, I had them valued by mroe than one collector and they say $15-20 AUD each, however, even trying to sell them for $10 was met with much umm'ing and arr'ing.

Dude, watch your butt on eBay. I got screwed on a small auction recently, admittedly as buyer. Guy sold me 2 raveners that were supposed to be painted per the pic, got models in scratched primer. Green primer vs the bone-on-red paintjob depicted, couple of arm options were different as well. I contact him, thinking he mebbe packed up the wrong models as I vaguely remembered he had several auctions. He basically says I cannot prove he sent the wrong models. I offered to send him pics of what he mailed me, still thinking he made an honest mistake and switched some stuff up. He says pics would prove nothing besides I have some primed models in my posession. Guy wasnt even interested in seeing if maybe he had made an error. Not releasing his name as I'll not be TFG, but words to you are "Watch. Your. Butt."

If someone is out to scam you, they will take oyur money. And there is little you can do about it.

Ah, eBay... How I hate thee.

My girlfriend sold a Banana Republic gift card on eBay, but sadly didn't request any form of delivery confirmation. The buyer claimed she never got the card and Paypal took the $ from my girl and gave it back to the buyer.

Hard to say if the card truly never showed up, but I think the buyer realised my girls error in not getting delivery confirmation and scammed her.

Singles.

I learned that selling lots doesn't work half as well as selling off one unit at a time. Same goes for unique models.

You're not a "TFG" for naming and shaming people who rip others off. The person didn't send you the stuff you paid for, simple.

I'm presuming you paid via PayPal.
You should have filed a "SNAD" complaint (Significantly Not As Described).

I would say singles as well but dont put to many up at a time (no more than ten). Reason for this is if you put up loads of auctions people will spread their money over x amount of auctions rather than bid high on one or two...

Overall Id vote for singles, but check what they are selling for first. Low value auctions can be eaten up by the ebay and paypal fees very quickly. If some of them are selling for just a couple bucks each you might be better off selling in small groups. The higher value stuff sell single.

You can search for items that have recently sold to give you an idea of what to price your stuff at and how to organize it.
