I stumbled upon this: http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon.shtml and I have to say, I think nintendo is getting lazy. Half of those pokemon are like, birds, insects or some sort of small mammal. Very boring.

I'll probably still buy it, but it looks lame Seriously, the third generation was the best. It had the most original stuff of the five generations. I should be getting too old to play pokemon, but I can't resist!

I know what you mean. Sometimes they don't know when to stop; it is just the same with W.i.t.c.h. or Lost.

I thought exactly the same thing when I saw them, but I doubt I'll be able to resist buying it.

Agreed. It's one of the few RPGs that's still turn-based.

My one problem is the amount that look like older pokemon but aren't evolutions of said earlier pokemon.

The only one that I can see that definately looks like an evolution is Buffuron, which looks like it evolved from tauros.

In other news, I quite like these new pokemon, more than Diamond and Pearl at least, some of them look very cool.

although some of them have an evolution chain that starts off looking quite cool, and then diverges slightly and looks a bit odd

Nintendo makes me sadder than games workshop does...

I agree. Why are there so many pokemons that are awesome, but have no evolutions? Like Mr.Mime, or snorlax?

Anyway, the game is AWESOME on my emulator. I watched the intro scene and decided to just buy it, I don't want to spoil it Looks much better than the previous ones. It seems like it has a story beyond 'blow up a criminal orgainzation, beat your rival and beat the champion"

that would rock the world of pokemon if they actully got a new story line, methinks nintendo should give square enix writers a call.

I'll probably get it, always have since gen 1. I may actually try a different starter besides the water one like I usually do because these ones are so bad.

Probably the grass one as it's the least bad. Though I'll probably do what I've been doing recently; trading a brand new Squirtle from a previous version of the game to the new one to act as the start. Of course that means I have the "grind" it up to level 5 first.

You know what would make the game better? Remove the damn story.

Ok maybe not completely but hear me out. Instead of forcing play round the game in the set root, why not open up the world. Players can go anywhere, do jobs, take buses, get a house breed and sell pokemon.

Oh and let me see the Pokemon on screen. They can chase me, i can hunt them. No more trekking backwards and forward over a small patch of grass to level up/ hunt for that rare monster that only appears here once in a blue moon. In fact let the trainer do some bloody training.

You guys actually still play pokemon games?

Not to mention in some of them you can literally spin around on the spot which somehow attracts them...

W40k/FB is a hobby like assembling/painting model planes, boats, etc.

But pokemon is a kids show and well thats strange that people over 20 years old play a game aimed at kids not adults.

I want to konw when they are going to make a PRETTY pokemon game. The last time I got that was on the gamecube with the shadow Colosseum one. That was a bad ass game. And they never made one after that. wtf pokemon people? I want some coolness on my Wii

Black and white look very pretty actually, they've made the game much more 3D based, rather than just having a small bit of perspective on the buildings.

Some of the cities look very pretty indeed.

I was holding off on buying HG/SS until this came out in japan. So I bought it yesterday, and it's pretty good. I want to carry this pokewalker thing around, but I'm afraid I'll look slowed

It seems weird to hear 64 bit remixes of 8 bit songs. Lavender town is absurd. I hate it now. I used to be able to listen to it for hours in the background, but now I just want to stab my DS.

What about Battle Revolution?

Sure, there's no storyline, but if you want good looking fights, it's there.

If you wear t-shirts that aren't tucked in, it hides easily.

I like them, in the last few games they have been trending more towards just being random spikey "things" or creatures based on inanimate objects. I'll enjoy the return to "pokemon as slightly altered animals".

Besides, it's not like the old ones are going away. This will just be a few hundred more on top of the mountain!

I lost interest when they excluded some of the originals out of Ruby/Saphire. I remember that wasn't too bad. Haven't played any that's newer than those. (Have colosseum for GC still)

Meh, none of the Pokemon games were any good after G/S. "Oh look! My pokemons Burning! There's a flute for that!"

As for the overall look of them, it's not that the art style is wrong, we just grew out of it.

Well, ACTUALLY...
Pokemon the game came long before Pokemon the show.
And Pokemon the game was a turn-based rpg in the same vein as say, the old FF games. Almost every game back then was marketed towards younger gamers because back then gaming was primarily considered for kids/teens. If you've ever whipped out your old NES to play some Mario, you can't talk.
