Hello all,

I am currently trying to find a suitable miniature for one of the PCs in the D&D game I DM. I intend to paint it up as part of a Christmas present to the player in question. Unfortunately, I've been having a difficult time finding a good match.

The character is an Avenger: a church-sponsored assassin that favours 2-handed weapons. This PC uses a 2-handed axe. The class favours cloth over any form of actual armour.

This is where it gets tricky. Most of the minis I see with big axes are either well-armoured knights or barely-clad barbarians. The avengers tend to favour assassin-like dress, but most assassins models use something less flashy than a 2-handed axe.

My closest find so far has been the Dark Lord Logar miniature from Reaper:

The executioner's hood is a bit ominous, but this might be the closest I can get. Anyone have a better suggestion?

Thanks,
Shawn

PS. The character's race is Shifter - essentially a human with a lycanthrope ancestor who becomes more bestial during battle. I've pretty much given up on modelling this given the other constraints listed above - a human model will suffice quite well.

Only thing that springs to mind is this guy:

That's an old metal Confrontation model, he came in a blister with his transformed state:

Which might work pretty nicely with the whole Shifter thing.

These guys aren't being made any more though so you might have a time tracking him down.

I'd suggest finding the mini you want and then adding the weapon you want.

EG:

This fella from freebooter mins:

With one of these axes from Malifaux:

Just remove the current weapon and swap it out for the axe you want.

Finding a penitent or cultist model and changing a weapon is probably the way to go. The Darkspawn weapons sprue from reaper is awesome.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

I'd have to agree with MGS - pick a model you like the look of and then just do a weapon swap. Far better to do that than just to settle for a model which has the right weapon "built in"...
