Hi Dakka.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the Black Templar codex was released in unison with the release of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online? The only playable Space Marine chapter is in fact, Black Templars.

Or, strangely enough... there have been minor rumors about a Craftworld Eldar codex release. What would happen if Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online was co-released with Codex: Dark Millennium including Black Templar, Craftworld Eldar, and some other lforms of GW love??

Your thoughts, Dakka?

Hmmm, would be interesting as an advertising promo ploy, I suppose, but do you have any rumours or news about this occurring?

Why would they pick Black Templars and push back the release of the Templars... anyone have any date on Warhammer 40 Online and the release of the BT codex? They all point to second half next year... plus, when was the last Codex: Armageddon type codex that was released???

GW coordinating their releases to some kind of marketing strategy? Don't be silly!

I could see them doing another new marine codex with even more powerful characters and everyone getting Baal Predators, Stormravens and fast Vindicators.

Why stop at fast vindis?

Make everything (even whirlwinds) fast!

Black Templars don't get Whirlwinds, silly.

We'll get Fast LR Crusaders instead. We did invent the damn things, after all.

It's possible, although GW would have less control over when the game is ready, which means the idea might get out of sync.

Along the same lines, we might see Sisters of Battle + Hammer and Anvil + Forge World's planned SoB work all released in September 2011.

The new Salamander novel that has Dark Eldar is being released in November. So there is precedence.

Has there been any rumors about a new BT codex?

Isn't this video game due out in 2012?

Is there any reason why this thread should stay open?

Or at best, be moved to 40K General Discussions?

Actually... I think that's a good idea.

Has it been explicitly stated that BT are the chapter you're playing in Dark Millennium?

So far, all I've seen are trailers and screenshots of Space Marines of an unidentified chapter that happens to use the Hospitaller Cross as their chapter insignia. Seeing as they're not in black armor... safe to say they could well not be Templars?

It is probably too early to say for sure anyway.

Depending on how certain things go, they could color swap it out pretty easily.

We could end up with Ultramarines.

Or, hopefully, the ability to pick your own!

They walk, talk and look like Templars to me. Plus Occam'z Razor would kind've imply that they are more likely to be Templars that not be Templars.

Well the armor's a blue-gray, not black... and in the screenshot you just linked, the Marine on the left doesn't even have white shoulders, while the one on the right does...

Occam's razor doesn't necessarily apply.

I could be wrong though.

The last time I can recall GW doing a co-release was the ill-fated (and poorly designed) Inquisitor RPGish game. The Daemonhunters/Witchhunters books were done to capitalize on how much everyone wanted a 40k RPG.

Now, if only they'd done that with Dark Heresy. I'd have loved for an =I= book to come out concurrent with DH/DW.

40k online aka DMO (dark millennium online) is about 2-3 years out last I heard, and a little less than that for even a wispier of a release date for the game to be announced.

I'd say it does.

What is more likely:

1. An existing Chapter covered in Black Templar iconography?
2. A new and unheard of chapter covered in Black Templar iconography?

Now factor that it is an Alpha Build (or even pre-Alpha, given this game isn't due 'til what '12? '13?) so the graphics are no where near final, and that according to at least one Dakkite everyone in the game is a Tech-Priest, and what does that leave you with?

Get the razor out, because the simplest solution kinda leans towards it being something we know already.

I wasn't watching the video with sound on( it's Imperium. We all knew they were going to be in, so I really didn't care. Talk to me when they add Orkz because Tau isn't happening due to where the MMO will be based. Different discussion for a Different day) but isn't one of the Playable Classes some sort of Psyker? Doesn't that right there write out Black Templars?
