O K, so my new IG army is ordered and should be here soon and i am exited as hell (if only pig iron wasn't so darn slow). For later inprovments/additions I have been thinking of many things but my main idea was to someday have a baneblade/stormsword (the super heavy tanks you can get in those kits simply). However before I start saving and searching the web I need practicalities. There is nothing rules wise in the codex and I am not a fan of spending £30 on some apocolipse book. + I hate apocolipse battles long and tiresome with too many rules, if there wernt enough allready lol. So does anyone have or know about rules for the SHV's in normal games? Cheers

You can use them in spearhead games since super heavies is one of the options presented.

The newer IA rules have some allowances also, but I doubt that will be cheaper than Apocalypse.
Games could be faster though.
Not really normal 40k games in any case.

Well technically you can't use super heavies in normal games as they aren't in the codex. Its up to your opponent to agree to fight one, unless you are playing Spearhead as stated, then you can take 1 as a formation. If you wanted to use one though you'd have to get the IA/Apoc book as we can't give out rules here.

Imperial Armour 1 update can be downloaded from the forgeworld website (the page for the imperial armour 1 book).
That will give you the rules for the baneblade. However, you will still need to the apocalypse book so that you know the rules for superheavy vehicles, strength D weapons, etc.

I think the point over/relating to grammar and spelling has been made now, especially if someone is new then the odd pointer and polite reminder is fine, but there's no need to endlessly go on and on about it. If a post/poster persists then alert the MOds and, once the hangovers and come downs are over, we shall taunt them mercilessly over and over again until their very soul cries for salvation and forgiveness.

You may be able to run a Baneblade with your Opponents premission, but it'll be most of your army in a 2k game and It can be destroyed fairly easy.
To be fair, Yes I have faced one in a 2k game, but it was back in 4th Edition when I played Necrons. Baneblade might not even have the same stats anymore.

Generally you only use them in apoc games since its a little more fitting.
However, it is possible to run a single super heavy in normal games (permission of course is needed)
If the people i play with agree on this then the game is 2,500 points.
Also, if the other player does not have a super heavy, he is allowed to take an extra heavy support choice (for 4 in total)
That usually helps to balance it out a bit.
Failing that, spearhead as mentioned allows you to field one without having to go all out apoc.
As for grammer - Too many people on here are tryhard grammar nazi's.
Just keep away from shorthand, do your best and ignore them mate, nothing else to it

There are IA rules for super heavies in normal 40k games but they are a throwback to pre-apoc days.
Basicly you need your opponents permission and then a single super heavy detatchment counts as a second FOC in entirety. This means you can take up to 3 baneblades/marauders/Hirodules/etc but your opponent is then allowed a whole 2nd army!
Needless to say, points become an issue if you're used to 1500-2k lol.

There's actually quite a few datasheets for super heavies listed on the GW website. Look under apoc and choose apoc articles. Download the PDFs from them and print out. The stormlord is there as well as many of the different variants.

There would be less of this nerdrage if people actually READ the board rules, instead of just ticking the box when they agree to the conditions of joining and ignoring them. Yes, some people have dyslexia, and some don't have English as a first language. l33t speak and txt language are specifically mentioned as being against said rules. Bad grammar doesn't bug me. internetz shrthand n da purposful shortning of words cuz people dont wanna go to the effort to type out a whole word like "mate" versus saving a whopping two keystrikes by typing "m8..." that's just laziness. Also against forum rules, FYI, but I've been known to thumb my nose at those from time to time myself, so I wouldn't use that as justification.
Also, completely unintelligible posts annoy the crap out of me. and im not talking about people who refuse to use punctuation or capitalization as long as they spell the words properly i can discern meaning, I'm talking about people who can't spell, can't put a proper sentence together, and/or are too lazy to try. That has nothing to do with English being your first language. If you can't spell the word "and," I'm going to have serious doubts about the integrity of your post.
Is my grammar perfect? No. But I try! And that's all I ever ask.

But to get back on topic, I've found the best way to include superheavies and similar in 40K is to give a points allowance that can be used to buy warmachines or Apoc formations outside of the FOC. E.G. 2000 points + 500 for apoc stuff. One guy takes a baneblade, the other takes three tri-las predators in an assassin squadron and it all balances out nicely. TBH, I find that this kind of arrangement works better for Apoc as well - (e.g. 2 FOCs with 2000 points each and 1000 points for warmachines/formations).
