The small shop that I play at has just started warhammer 40k and this was the biggest game anyone has done so far. I have been playing for about 6 months now and he has been playing for about 2 months. He was playing his space marine army using the blood angels codex. I was running:

Ghaz with 10 nobs, painboy cyborks waaagh banner and all different weapons in a battlewagon.

Big Mek, shock attack gun, ammo runt

30 boyz, nob pk bp

30 boyz nob pk bp

30 boyz nob pk bp

15 Stormboyz, nob pk bp

9 Lootas

12 Burna Boyz (3 Meks) in a red trukk with ram

1 Deff Dread with 3 Dccw's and skorcha

The game starts off and we roll for mission and get 5 objective markers. We set up a nice city landscape with the insides of each building blown up and a crater in the center with an exploded Ork Trukk that was made into terrain. We roll missions and get 5 objective markers. I lose the roll and the objective markers are placed near building edges and I place one on the bed of the trukk in the middle. The space marine guy (sorry I don't know most of his stuff) sets up guys with rokkits, tho e shoots dem betta den da boyz, inside a few buildings. He places a terminator squad with a guy that has a skull for a face near one of the table edges (not sure who this was really cept an IC). Ghaz wants this guy as a trophy.

I set up the lootas and big mek in a building and the tide covering most of my deployment zone, although I don't put them in the same unit (which was a mistake I learned early). I put ghaz and the nobs to attack skeletor on the same side of the board. I put the burna trukk and the stormboyz on the opposite side of the table from GHaz.

Turn 1
He does some shooty stuff and kills 6-7 boyz in one group. He moves his guys closer to the objectives and a dreadnaught up the middle towards the trukk objective. He concentrates most of his fire on the same group of boyz. Breaks his squads into 2 groups of 5 to shoot at different stuff and takes a shot at the wagon and the big mek. The wagon was 1 inch out of 36" range and the Big Mek thought his cover save would save him. He ate a rokkit to the face and was instant killed. Orks sad, gretchin happy. My turn.

I start the foot slog across the board. Burna trukk moves up to try and flank a squad of scouts in a building. Storm boyz do the same. Deff Dread wants to fight the Deadnaught so he heads up the middle as well. Battlewagon goes flat out to hide behind a building and disembark next turn. Lootas decide to shoot at the transport that is trying to sneak over to an objective. 27 shots later transport explodes leaving a crater and a squad of dirty marines. If dey were green we'd not attack, but dirt not enough to hide. Da boyz try and run but don't seem too motivated and all 3 squads roll 1,2,2. Not enough excitment and explosions yet.

Turn 2.
He deepstrikes in a group of 5 jump pack guys at a squad of 30 boyz (not much room on the table with the 150 orks hehe) and another tank comes in on the table edge in front of the burna trukk cutting them off their route. He shoots a bunch more times and the one squad is almost down to 15 boyz. The tank at the burna trukk does some more shooty stuff and the trukk wrecks but the boyz saw it coming and bailed out without a scratch. Then something happened the boyz didnt see coming. The space marines were working with da ebil witches and could cast magic stuffz! A beam shot in a straight line at da burna boyz and killed most of the group being pinned by a trukk and a tank. Da burna boyz fail leadership and try and make a run for it. My turn. The deepstrikers forget to attack and are now looking at 30 hungry orks who eat their bones.

Da burna boyz regroup on a snake eyes! as they see a group of 30 boyz plow into the tank that wrecked them and explode it with the might of da power klaw. The meks in the burna group want revenge on the psyker so they shoot the KMB's at him. One gets hot and the other hits the side of a building (on the other side of the table). The Lootas fire at the dreadnaught and get a few glancing hits which is enough to make it not shoot next turn. The stormboyz fly to the psyker unit and plow through them like melted ice cream. The Deff Dread sees the unit that popped out of the transport and unleashes the skorcha. 2 live so he assualts and then quickly die. The battlewagon makes it to Skeletor and the terminators as well as a squad of 20 boyz. The boyz single target the big guy and take him down with 72 attacks. The nobs attack the terminators with power klaws and Ghaz kills the last marine in the group. The terminators attack the squad of boyz instead of Ghaz for some weird reason and kill a good deal of them. Ghaz gets frustrated he didnt get the kill but takes his trophy none the less.

Turn 3

At this point the space marines have 30 or so models on the field agaisnt an overwhelming 100 orks. The space marine does some more shooty stuff and the stormboyz are at half strengh as well as killing off about 15 more orks. I never hit below the 12 boyz in a unit and Mob Rule wins the day. My turn.

I move a conga line of orks to capture 2 objectives as the stormboy nob thinks its a good idea to attack a dreadnaught. The orks in the unit dont think its such a good idea as they lose more then half strengh. The nob wants the job done so he explodes it with the power klaw. At this point there are only 6 stormboyz left. The nobs with Ghaz want to scale a building and get at another scout unit, Ghaz likes the idea of killing stuff so he rolls a 6 for slow and purposefull and scales a level of the building with the nobs preceding to murder the helpless scouts. The group of boyz in the middle who took out the deepstrikers move for the objective on the trukk.

Turn 4
The scouts left in a building near the burna (wrecked) trukk take a few shots at the stormboyz and manage to only kill one more. His last squad of marines with his HQ (some guy with a banner, again i don't know the marine list) charge at Ghaz and the nobz who are still playing monkey bars with the ruined building, a few orks take some hits but not enough to hurt the 700 point 11 man squad. The HQ gets singled out and a few marines die, they stay locked in combat. My turn.

Ghaz unleashes the full fury of the WAAAGH!!! The stormboyz that are left decide to jetpack into the building to attack the last of the scouts. Failing one dangerous terrain roll the scouts scream in pain as the orks claim victory. Ghaz and the nobs finish off the marines and call it a night. At the end I conga lined into 3 objectives and wiped his board.

A few bonfires are made to roast marshmellows, sing campfire songs and roast marine flesh. Good Times.

Nice report! Take some pictures next time if you can. By the way, you are not allowed to have a Trukk as a dedicated transport for Burnas -only boys or Nobz get it

Thanks. I didn't realize that about the burnas, I was under the impression that I could spend the slot (troop?) for the trukk and then put a differnet unit in it. Or does this only work with the battlewagon? We haven't been playing at the shop very long but have been enjoying it alot.

You can, but you need to buy a 12-or-less squad of Boyz in order to get the Trukk; you can't buy just the trukk all by itself.

Also, I'm not sure which psychic power the BA used, but it sounded like blood Lance, which only causes one wound to a unit it goes through, not one on each model (It appears GW realized they kind of screwed the pooch with JotWW)

Thanks for the report!

Just in case you didn't know, Stormboyz can't Waagh - check out the GW Ork FAQ for more detail - the short end of it is they aren't typical infantry, and were given the rule in the codex in error. Also, like the above poster said, a good tip is to know your opponent's army - read over their codex a bit (first ask to read the armory section, which has the psychic powers - this is huge).

Blood Lance does not hit each individual model - just ONE model per unit. To put into perspective how bad that is at killing infantry, if you have a squad of 20 boyz, it only hits ONE model in that squad, maximum. Again, good game!

I knew that the stormboyz couldn't get the affect of the WAAAGH!, but I couldn't go the entire game and NOT WAAAGH!!! It wouldn't be orky enough.

You could buy the Battlewagon that the Nobz ride in as a Heavy support option, then buy the Nobz the Trukk you want to use and just not deploy the Nobz in the trukk. You would not be able to start the game with the Burnaz in the Trukk because its dedicated to the Nobz so just deploy them next to each other and embark turn 1. Also why 3 Meks? Burnaz are so much better.
