On wednesday, and when it arrived on monday it was sent by home couriers.

How much was it and was it out of stock? GW has a next day delivery on orders over £10 so if for some reason they were unable to send it the way they normally would, or it was a specifically expensive order, they may send it via couriers as generally their faster and they generally provide a better safety for goods.

2 packs of DA pads @£13.00. I never get anything from GW next day.

I had an order from FW arrive via Home today...

Odd, as their website explicitly says they use UPS express... (My order qualified for the free express shipping, my credit card is still smouldering a bit )

I guess GW as a whole have signed some new deal with them.

I think UPS Express is for international orders, not UK orders.

IIRC home couriers are only used when a bigger delivery firm like UPS or DHL don't have enough packages in a given area to make dispatching a van to that area worthwhile. Big businesses use shipping companies like UPS and the like because it's cheaper than using Royal Mail I believe.

GW free shipping is only their standard delivery service, which is 2 - 3 working days, which an order on Wedsnesday arriving on the Monday would be, assuming the order was placed after 12:00. GW linky goodness.

My Forge World came the same way as well.

I had a Forgeworld order arrive today via HDNL, very confusing, normally they send everything to me via Royal Mail (I'm a cheapskate and won't pay for the express shipping).

Worryingly HDNL did a lot of damage to the box, thankfully the contents weren't damaged.

Acutually its free delivery on over £10

I did an order a couple weeks back and it only took 4 days to arrive and was hand delivered by UPS! If there is one thing I like about GW, its their delivery service!
