A friend of mine is an avid WoC player and loves trolls, so he has decided to start a troll army up using throgg.
Since he has helped me to no end with spare parts and alot of help over the years ive decided to start sculpting him up his own throgg to use.

Since im no WoC player, i have no idea what fluff he has, or any specific marks, items etc.

All that im aware of is that he has a crown of spikes (i think?)

Is it possible for anyone to post some more info on him please.
all ive done so far is started the chest and head section, and added a loin cloth to the front held by rope.
Didnt want to start work on a weapon or anything else in detail just yet until i know what he has (wasnt sure if he had a specific weapon or magic item etc)

He's basically king of the Troll Country, and wherever he goes he brings ice and blizzards. So perhaps give him an ice-weapon?

I have been thinking about this myself back in the day, but then I was gonna make a count-as Ogre Kingdom army. Then I found out they pretty much suck now.

Was thinking of greenstuffing a more pronounced underlip, some tusks and a big Stone Troll nose. I love them big nosed fellahs, and it has nothing to do with me being jewish...

From his fluff in the WoC book:

A filth-encrusted crown sits askance atop the Troll-King's lumpen scalp... Throgg was picking his yellowed tusks clean with his gem-encrusted blade...

And that's pretty much all the description you get. The accompanying picture shows him wielding an axe, so I'd go with that.

So a crown is a must, i assumed it was a spine like crown, i now know it is actually a rel crown lol, shouldnt be too hard to make.
So he needs tusks too, that can be arranged.
So it calls it a gem encrusted blade, but then shows an axe?
Might go out on a limb here and just make it as i go.
Seems theres nothing set in stone, and i assume in his items he has no special weapon as such right?

If so, i might go down the route of an ice blade with some gems, or even an ice mace to keep it trollish.
Other ones ive seen generaly have a mace from a quick google search, but ill dig some more.

He had an axe in the picture. And remember he's a Chaos Troll. He's mutated.

All the weapons he would have gotten would be from normal-sized people, mostly likely. So the gem-encrusted sword he was picking his teeth with was because it was meaningless to him. Only the biggest battleaxe might be a little hand weapon to him. And it would probably have to be enchanted to withstand his strength.

An Ogre Tyrant can use a waggon axle for a club and he has Str 5. Throgg has Str 6. He's basically as strong as a giant--who stands much much taller. So realistically he'd either have to have something tailored personally for him by Chaos Dwarfs or maybe something gifted by the Chaos Gods. Sigmar's hammer would look like a baby rattle in his fist and not be much use.

I think the Chaos Troll models are a good start.

Made a start on him 2 days ago duke
Used the new daemon prince model as a frame for him and skimmed a few layers off all over (about 3mm) so it removes most of the old detail and gives me a blank framework to play with.

Ill get some pics up later on to show how he's comming along, but so far ive done:

Head and ears (typical stone troll ears)
chest, stomache, loin cloth, shoulders - but thats all base coating really, it will get a detail layer afterwards, the initial layer was simply to build the shape.

Weapon wise, ive started to build him an ice mace (the head so far is a little smaller than a warhorse, so should be big enough)
With that ive made a framework again, simply need to add ice spikes to it then GS it (along with making the shaft bulky)

I was going to give some advice on the weapon, a suggestion of maybe some sort of gem incrusted scepter with an ice axeblade growing out of it, but I like your idea and you've already started it.

If I can give some advice on the crown though, I would suggest getting a bunch of horns and arranging them in a ring around the top of his head, if you or anyone you know does a WoC, Beatmen, or dwarf army they should have some leftover heads that don't need and those ones often have some sort of horns.

For the crown i will indeed be going with a ring of horn like spurs.
Got plent of steal claws, which should look pretty good size wise.

The Demon Prince base is a monster, but Throgg's just a Monstrous Infantry. So he can join all those Troll units.

You should really get the latest WoC book just to see him. It says his crown is "battered and filth-encrusted" and sits askanse his head. Though it was once a priceless heirloom taken from a warrior who came to kill him. He's not Jesus, not sure where the thorns is coming from. They even speculate the crown might be the source of his dominion over other monsters. Kinda like that Orc guy.

Description wise, he's got a mouth in his stomach. I always hate that look but that's how he was drawn. He's got lots of little spikes and some knives stuck through him like ogres. He has 2 huge undercurved tusks like an elephant but not quite that big. They're also non-symetrical. He looks kind of like a thorn bush with all the little spikes. And indeed the axe is a big 1h and it even it has spikes, so probably not a crafted one except by Chaos Dwarfs.

He has some earrings and nose rings. Typical trollish ears, his nose is curved but smallish, very tiny eyes, gigantic tooth-ladden mouth. They didn't draw him with the crown at all, though.

Funnily enough a friend just lent me the book.
I have to say, im somewhat un-impressed with the pic.
Ive allways hated the mutated look on chaos trolls.

Ill be going with a less weedy stone troll look.

I had to alter the princes legs to get him onto a 40mm base lol, i think when ranking him up ill have to shuffle trolls about a bit.


after seeing the pic and having a read, i think ill go my own way with this anyway.
Just seems they have done a poor job on what could have been great fluff and pics.

I will however keep the winter theme.

Which explains delivery costs.
They make every special character from the chaos book.
They also make a HPA, but its huge.

Kholek is $80 with $16 shipping lol, still buying him though since they have done a great job.
