No words can describe how epic this sounds.

A $1.1 billion Jurassic theme park called Restless Planet, is being built in Dubai. The park will feature 109 animatronic dinosaurs of over 40 different species in a 500,000 square foot (46,000 square metre) space. The new park will be the star attraction of a large Las Vegas-esque entertainment and business development called City of Arabia.

From Topnews(dot)in

The Natural History Museum has reportedly signed a deal to create a ‘Jurassic Park’ of life-size robotic dinosaurs, which will wander freely among visitors.
The project will see hi-tech animatronic dinosaurs, including the dreaded Tyrannosaurus Rex, roaming around in the park.
The park named ‘Restless Planet’ is due to open in Dubai in 2010.
The creatures will be so developed that their breath will stink, and they will respond to visitors’ actions and even the colour of their clothes.
The other species such as pterodactyls and diplodocus are all set to roam around the landscape.
“We want to create a hybrid of a theme park and a museum that will allow people to experience a Jurassic-era habitat, ” the Sun quoted Audrey O’Connell, director, as saying.
In Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park, dinosaurs are reproduced from DNA but then run amok.
A consultant on the film, Palaeontologist Jack Horner, suggested the museum: “Jurassic Park was a drama. This time everyone wants it to be accurate. ”
The park will be as big as ten football pitches, and comprise of two climate-controlled buildings, grassland and woodland divided into different time periods.
The project is part of oil-rich Dubai's grand plan to become the world's premier tourist destination
Now this sounds incredibly epic. I know that in the video it is said 47 and I said 109. But I know so much.

And on the official website for the Attraction
http://www.cityofarabiame.com/our-projects/restless-planet/overview-restless-planet.html

Information about it is much different from the video and the date if 2010 already past. But no matter what, it is enough to get you excited.

What do you think??

It sounds like they will be free walking constructs, rather than on rails. If that is the case then this is epic indeed.

Dubai? The place that's currently in trouble because it sank so much money into massive pointless attractions that are going nowhere now the economies gone down the drain?

I'll believe it when I see it.

One thing that shocked me was the amount of Money that is being put into this attraction!! Some sites say that the whole 1 billion is being invested into it. The official sites says 300 million. 300 million is still a lot of dough!!! Even with 1 million you can live pretty happily.

There is a new design of the attraction building

That is massive. It is part of a Hotel and Restort complex with schools and houses.

It isn't going to be part of Dubailand theme park though.

Gentlemen , meet Disneyland and Universal Studios on steroids.

Rumored it will be the biggest and most epic theme park on the planet. How is Dubai going to be able to pull this off??
They wouldn't have all these things planed out if they didn't have the money to do it. They are in a recession like us.

Well the Theme park will house Universal Studios Dubai, Legoland Dubai, Six Flags Dubai, Warner Bros. Movie World, Tiger Woods Dubai (wtf??), Water Parks, Dreamworks Studios Theme Park, Marvel Superheroes Theme Park, Aviation World and I am just naming a few. No Disneyland in the List.

(From Wiki) When announced in 2003 it was one of the most ambitious leisure developments ever proposed anywhere in the world,
but development has been severely impacted by global recession and Dubai's financial crisis.

I think these things will never happen though due to the Planetary Recession. I will be surprised if this thing does get done.

The Restless Planet attraction is under-construction though and it rumored to open in 2011 when it was announced in 2006. Would be exciting to see Dinosaurs threatening to eat you.

The Dubailand project is sitting there

and the project needs a green light for continuing the construction.

Wow It is amazing. Everybody have these big ideas. But someone has got to ruin them.
Oh well.

At least there is Disneyland for now. So maybe 12 years later if 2012 is fake. I am sure we will see this theme park finally complete.

Some Construction Projects are absurd and I dont see the point.

Like the Crazy Horse project
The workers building the Crazy Horse Statue do not want to work due to the company losing money and not enough is being paid. Seriously I don't see the point.

Oh well
BACK TO TALKING ABOUT DINOSAURS GOING CRAZY INSIDE A ATTRACTION COMPLEX AND EATING HUMANS!!

such a nice topic to talk about.

They couldn't move that fast, and I'm sure they're designed to shuffle more than walk. But hey, who the hell knows?

Looking at current walking robot technology, there's nothing even close to that size that actually walks. Unless they've got some rather stupendously funded research institutes working on that, shufflers is probably right.

Of course, this IS Dubai we're talking about here, so I suppose I shouldn't rule anything out...

Is it legal to design things so that they DO eat people? I mean....if they sign a waiver or something...

An impressive collection of videos, but did you notice the stands? They aren't free walking, and I doubt they could crush anyone.

So you Dinosaurs to stand without any support?? I think this is how good it's going to get. and people getting crushed will have the attraction removed.

I what Dinosuars without support? Besides, I was just pointing out that we probably don't have to worry about these dinosuars are going to step on anyone. I wasn't saying that these animatronics weren't cool, becuase they are.

The only issue i would have is if they teach that Dinosaurs roamed the earth with humans 4000 years ago.

And you never know with Muslim countries...

You guys have heard about Dinosaur Adventure Land in the US right?

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

The UAE is actually fairly secular, especially when compared to the rest of the region, Dubai in particular. Most of the Emirate's population is actually Indian expats these days.

Headline: Prehistory Strikes again!! 12 People seriously injured by a Dinosaur in Dubai!

That would be quite scary!!

Well this is going to be an Indoor ride rumors say. So the animatronics may be fixed on the ground. Wouldn't want to crash into a Dinosaur trying to get back in it's normal place. SMASH!! and the Dinosaur topples over as the people on the ride scream.

The animatronics are being manufacturing by a company called Kokoro Dinosaurs i think.
Here is an example of 1 of their animatronics

Pretty awesome if you ask me

I knew you'd just have to say something ignorant. Wouldn't be an-otherwise-harmless-cool-non-religous-non-muslim-hating thread without you.

Im many things mate, but i take umbrage with "ignorant" because i assure you i am not. I take time out of ever day to read the news and school myself on world affairs.

Dubai is very liberal for its location, but its still a Muslim country, and strict Muslims do indeed believe that the world is young, and has a firmament... etc etc

Exactly what was ignorant about my statement?

And Dinosaur Adventure Land is also a Creationist haven, in the USA. You must have noticed that i am (almost) as vehemently against the science denying strict Christians as i am Muslims surely?

Im not ignorant. You are a blind Muslim apologist however.

Your a nice bloke otherwise mate... So dont take it personal or anything.

Muslims don't believe in the 6000 year old earth theory btw.

If those robots are that big.....

They will eventually step on somebody's kid.

End of park.

Considering everyone is seated inside the ride I really don't think that will happen.

I lived in Dubai for 5 years. They never taught us in the schools that the world was 5000 years old at all. You've just made the assumption that, becuase the country is predominatly muslim, they must teach the Creationist theory in school. I don't know what you've read about the UAE, but religion isn't a huge problem there.

EDIT: In fact it is a policy that Evolution is taught in schools, and no we didn't have to pray to anyone or somesuch at lunchtime.

And Dinosaur Adventure Land is also a Creationist haven, in the USA. You must have noticed that i am (almost) as vehemently against the science denying strict Christians as i am Muslims surely?

Im not ignorant. You are a blind Muslim apologist however.

I'm not a muslim apologist. I just don't see why you had to go bring this up. It's not an attack against me, but it is insulting to Muslim friends of mine still there.
