I bought some FW Parts 2nd hand, I think the previous owner had bent them out of shape slightly. It looks ok, but the parts don't fit together seemlessly and unfortunately on a drop pod that makes for Door that won't open.

Does anyone know a technique to make resin pliable/ straighten it, or will I have to force fir the components with some filing, gluing and filling?

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Warm water + bent part + a bit of bending.

Resin is relaly easy to deform if you heat it.

Had the same issue with some lascannons i bought from FW, was kinda bummed that I paid a fairly large amount of money for them, and when they came they were toally out of shape.

This. ^ But be careful and take your time! If its not dead easy to bend, than return it to it's bath and wait a bit longer/increase the temp if necessary.

Resin, like metal, is often deformed from the casting process. Nothing out of the ordinary there, just gotta roll with it.

It's often deformed in the FW case because of improper mixing of the resin combined with demoulding before it has initially cured.

The big tells for both of these is the amount of outgassing the resin is still doing, for several days afterwards (not properly curing due to the improper mix), the softness/spongeyness of the resin on thin pieces (funnily enough, when I've cast resin pieces that thin, they are still more rigid than plastic) and the warpage.

Hot tap water fixes it. What Orki said. If you can't bend it with ease (thumbs and forefingers) then put it back in the bath for longer.

Yeah, but you don't have to do it for long.

Or, just boil some water (or near-boiling and put it in there for a couple seconds. LITERALLY. Then pull out and bend. Feeling extra industrious? Run it under COOL (not cold) water to re-harden quickly.

That was what I did with my Hydra Emplacement barrels. Worked fast, and worked just fine.

The quick dip in boiling water worked a treat. I quickly dipped it cold to set it again. Awesome stuff Dakkarites.
