Ok, I got this idea from the Ninja Maneater, and it's really not helping my fight to keep myself from starting a third tiny army but oh well.

The basic idea of this army would be ogres from nippon/cathay, since ogres wander all over the world in search of food, glory, treasure and what have you it's not in the least unreasonable to think that they would wind up in in the far east, especially using the Ninja Maneater as the tyrant in the army.

I think this could actually be a solid idea, the sort of general things I would do is to give a lot of the ogres fu man chus or those bamboo hats maybe paint the up to have a sort of oriental skintone or in those vivid bright colors that are common in japanese mythology, or maybe having them just wear that as warpaint.

Then there would be some conversion work to make the weapons look more like katanas here and there and definitely work to be done making the ironguts look like samurai, with the helmets and armor and everything.

Well theres my idea, tell me what you think, though I may wind up focusing more on my two existing armies.

the ninja ME is good if you want to model an Unhittable Tyrant.

Greyback pelt, Glittering Scales, Talisman of Preservation, and a Cathayen Longsword. being WS7 with a -2 to be hit modifier and a 5+ ward is nasty. especially when fully buffed.


for the IGs simply use those above pics to Greenstuff armor and your gold.

for asthetic purposes your Bulls should have LA too.

sounds nice, you can get stuff to make your own transfers with a printer and print up some asian dragon tatoos as well.

Zomg! it exists!.. Now I won't feel so bad about not getting around to it for a while, going to focus on my other armies for a bit.

I think it would be hilarious. The problem I have with the ones pictured above is that they're very...neat. While that might be very Nippon-ish, it's not especially Ogreish. Unless they got someone cleaning their clothes every hour and straightening them. Ogres are huge, stupid slobs. It's like giving an Ogre a banjo or a flute. Yeah, it looks funny, but it doesn't make much sense.

I just think that flimsy armor wouldn't survive an Ogre rampaging in it. At the very least it would get all turned around and disjointed. Even ironguts seem to only wear helms, bigger gutplates, and maybe gauntlets. And that's enough to bring the already armored skin of an Ogre up to heavy.

My advice is to simply add a couple of touches of Chinese or japanese styled armor and leave it at that. just a little goes along way.

look at the first picture. all that suggests Cathey is the Hat and the banner on the back, yet it changes the whole look of the model.

a Shoulder pad that looks like laquered Bamboo will be fine for LA for the Bulls and is fairly easy to Greenstuff.

I agree, the minimalist way is definately the way to go, I would probably aim for just making what armor their already was look more Japanese styled and of course the weapons.

And if I get really courages I might go for giving one of them a ripped up and dirty looking kimono of some sort.

if you feel up for it you could make a Butcher look like a Sumo Wrestler

it would require almost completely new legs though.



Cloth is fairly easy to do. for a Kimono i would reccomend looking up Kimono cloth cuts(google) for sewing and making the same shapes out of Greenstuff and putting it on.

holes can be added later.

I kind of like the sumo idea, though I don't know if it quite fits the butcher the best.

Of course mentioning the butcher gives me a different idea, though it's not period appropriate it would be pretty awesome to make him look like one of the iron chefs.
