Hey guys,

I read on Wikipedia that Albino Skaven are used as bodyguards for protecting the Council of Thirteen.

I assume that outside of those ranks, Albino Skaven do exist? If so, would it be feasible for one to be a Warlord? Or are they shunned? I read somewhere that black Skaven are victimised so I am wondering if it'd be the same for Albinos.

Still, pretty cool idea for an Albino to overcome adversity and climb the ranks

Non-fluff question:

If you were using quickshade, how would you paint an Albino Skaven's fur? I am tempted to just not use quickshade and paint the Island of Blood Warlord properly.

I would imagine that there would have to have been a seperate clan for the Albino Skaven only so you could model your whole army as part of this clan.

Black fur is the mark of a true killer? Sounds Warlordy.

Albino fur means they can become Greyseers? I need to brush up on Skaven fluff... I'm assuming black is the better choice?

I like the idea of a lab rat army, but it'd be a bitch to paint unless you prime white and only shade down.

Black skaven get victimised?

My skaven fluff knowledge is old, but what I remember was that black skaven grew larger and more vicious than the rest and so were destined to become stormvermin.

MeanGreenStompa has it right, black skaven are not victimized they are actually seen as superior & skaven have actually dyed their hair black. As for Albino they are stormvermin guards to the council & also grey seers. I don't know how feasible a lab rat army would be but if I were to ply skaven that's how I'd do it.

I think it is so that the grey seers are, as their title says, grey, and the albino council guard are white.

For the painting (if you want to make a quick wash), I would basecoat with Dheneb stone, wash with gryphonne sepia and then perhaps highlight with Dhaneb stone + skull white.

Normally, the darker the more respected, see Storm Vermin. Exception Grey Seers and that Albino bodyguard.

But I take the freedom to make a whole albino Skaven army of the East.

Skaven colors:
the majority of skaven vary in different shades of brown.
Skaven born with black fur tend to grow larger and more ferocious, rising to the ranks of the stormvermin from there to become warlords, if they can.
White skaven tend to be more intelectual and excel in the study of magic, the rare few becoming gray seers and many others becoming warlock engineers.

White fur means Grey Seer. Albino means Council of Thirteen bodyguard. Was thinking of fielding Ikkit Klaw with some Albino Storm Vermin. Money's the issue...

IIRC The fluff is that black fur tends to go to stormvermin. Grey seers are characterized by grey/white fur and horns, all the council of the thirteen's guards are albino.

Ikit klaw is also white furred, not that he has much fur left...

Typical white painting is laying up from mid grey to white in probably 3 stages minimum, and do the eyes in pink maybe instead of bright red, use a more pale shade for the flesh, instead of highlights of khaki for for skull white maybe, maybe even using khaki for your base coat instead of fleshtones.

depends on what you want, in the real world albino rats have a yellow tinge so paint white then thinned yellow wash then white dry brush and pink eyes.

From the fluff book I read that came out close to a decade ago, Black Skaven were revered as exceptional killers, and white/grey skaven were bound to become priests or clergy.

The albino guard are not an actual clan, more just a selected few that are specially chosen. They would not have warlords or chieftains, only the fangleaders of the regiments!!
