So the question arises - what brand of paints do you usually buy?
I'm just doing a light gauge of the overall 'paint' demographic out there to see the variety of what people use!
I use both VGC and GW paints mainly myself.
Not exactly asking for which paints are 'better' but more of a tally.
However if you would like to voice your oppinion on why you love the paint you use - feel free!
Maybe we could collect a 'summary' data of each type of paint outlining some true properties (weeding out as much bias/commentary as possible! hopefully.. haha)
Statistically speaking.. i guess if enough people 'whine' that a certain paint sucks... then it probably near sucks?
No clue! Just keep it clean (its just paint after all!)
And lets discuss!
I overall love Vallejo, due to its near same coloration as GW paints except just with the dropper bottle itself.

Gw for a very long time, but moving over to VGC slowly. I just much prefer the consistency of VGC and the actual finished look of the paint.
Then again my GW paints are ancient, so they really aren't doing themselves any favours.

Reaper Master Series, I'm not sure why you dont have that brand on the list but you include Apple Barrel which isnt fit for anything but terrain.
As for why I like Reaper, it has great consistancy and gives a great finish, I've found that it is also alittle more resilant then Vallejo. Plus their triads are a great deal.

Eureka, Plantec or AD, depending on which brand the colour is available (on most artistic stores theyhave no issues on allowing me to open the cans to check the pigments, so even if the names won't match, I can look for similar paints).

Whoo hoo, first one to vote Apple Barrel. B) I can't get over paying 2 bucks for that little stinking paint pot. I can get a big 8z bottle for that and STILL have great-looking minis. It's all about technical skill in the media, imo.

I buy GW for the normal paints, but definitely not the primers.
I buy auto paint primer from Napa Auto Parts and it works great, especially the white! I forgot the brand...
I would try some other paints, if I could keep my color scheme intact. Anyone know a brand that doesn't have to be thinned so much?

I've used alot of Folk Art paints with good results. I recently picked up the Vallejo Game Color set and love them, but the Folk Art stuff is also pretty good and very cheap (it's also available at Wal Mart).

I use GW paints, 3 reasons why
1. I like it
2. I'm used to working with it
3. It's quick and easy for me to get, just a 10 minute walk into town, and I'm sorted, rather than having to wait days for delivery. the slightly higher cost is offset by #3.
Although if the local GW closed up shop I'd either look into other paints or just stop playing/painting entirely.
