Forge World wrote:Hi there,
The dust has settled on what’s been described as the best Games Day UK ever, and here at Forge World we’re already looking ahead to how we can put on an even better show next year.
This Newsletter brings you a fantastic gallery review of Games Day UK as well as an update on our forthcoming shows.
Thanks,
Ead Brown
Games Day UK Review
As the Forge World offices return to normality, we have now put up an exciting gallery of the Forge World and Warhammer Forge from UK Games Day which you can view here.
I’m afraid we were a bit of victim of our success and we’re sorry that some people had to queue for quite some time to pick their reservations. The demand was rather overwhelming and we’ll be working on a better and quicker system for next year.
We’d like to thank everyone who came to admire the Forge World and Warhammer Forge Studio stands and treat themselves at our Sales stand – we hope you had a fantastic day as we certainly did!
Keep your eye out for forthcoming Newsletters that will announce the Necron Tomb Stalker, Grot Mega Tank and Eldar Hornet that were available in limited numbers at Games Day UK – these are in production at the moment and we hope to make them available very soon.
Imperial Armour Volume 9: The Badab War Part I, Lugft Huron and Sevrin Loth with Honour Guard Despatched from October 4th
Following a rapturous reception at Games Day, Lugft Huron, Sevrin Loth with Honour Guard and Imperial Armour Volume 9: The Badab War Part I are now available for immediate despatch – Imperial Armour writer Alan Bligh along with a team of helpers spent Tuesday afternoon signing the first 500 copies of the book, and our despatch team are picking orders even as we write this. You can order any of these items now by following the links above.
Games Day Italy and Germany Reservations Now Being Taken
Forge World will be attending Games Day Italy on October 17th and Games Day Germany, also on October 17th, and we are now taking Reservation orders for both of these exciting events – placing a reservation is the best way to guarantee that we will have exactly what you want, packed up and waiting for you on the day including the characterful Ork Runt Bot, our 2010 Show Only model.
We must receive reservations for Games Day Germany by October 8th and Games Day Italy reservations by October 4th.
To place a reservation, just send an e-mail titled ‘Games Day Italy Reservation’ or ‘Games Day Germany Reservation’ to ForgeworldReservations@games-workshop.co. uk including your name and a list of the items you’d like us to provide. You can also telephone us on 0115 916 8177 – in either case, we will provide you with an order number and total cost slightly before the event, and we’ll also inform you of anything that we can’t guarantee to have for you. Remember that anything we run out of can be ordered on the day with the added bonus of completely free shipping!
Not really much news, but still figured I'd post it because of the upcoming Games Day reservation info, and the link to Forge World's gallery of Games Day UK photos.

No idea, but I'll take some of whatever you're on.
Now, should my buddies pool our resources and pick up the Badab War or Deathwatch book...

Anyone have dakka-hosted pics of the hornet? I haven't heard of this item before...

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money
"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

So, did I simply fail to notice any substantial new information in this newsletter, or is it non-existent, and overall serves FW as a platform to plug the Badab War book yet again?

Did they have separate lines - one for buying, and one for picking up pre-orders - 'cause if they didn't, that might help things along. No need to wait in line for 2+ hours to pick something up you've already ordered.

They had 3 separate lines... Err, no, that's not fair. You can't call it lines.
They had 3 separate scrums.
One for buying things on the day.
Then they had one to register for your pre-order, which you stood around for an hour and a half hoping to press your way to the front. When you did, you handed them your printed out sheet, they went away to the shelves, came to the front, opened the package, went through everything inside in front of you, then bagged it up and threw it into the middle of the floor.
They then direct you to go join a second scrum further down as they 'didn't have enough tills.' So their solution to this was pick up one of the bags at random, call out the guys name, have them push through to the front. Open the package again then go through it again before finally paying for it. This resulted in another hour long queue for my friend before he got his. I, myself was waiting for another 2 and a half hours (totalling 4 hours queueing over a 6 hour day) hoping that they'd eventually call my name out.
Apparently my order went 'missing' before they got round to calling out my name. By the time I got close enough to someone to ask about it, it was about 3.30pm where he told me this, then it took a grand total of 5 minutes for them to go over to the FW sales stand, pick out what I'd pre-ordered then hand it to me.
So I've posted a letter of complaint on the Monday, I can't help but think that fw newsletter is the closest I'm going to get to an apology.

Its been three years since I was able to get to Gamesday and I had the same hassle getting my preordered Forge World stuff then. I've promised myself that if I do go again I'll just buy what I want on the day as it will be a lot quicker (plus if they don't have it or are sold out they will send it post free...).
