Simple Green. Soak it for as long as you like, then take a toothbrush to the cracks where some paint remains. Most if it will pee right off with your fingertips. In the U.S. you can find it at the supermarket.

damit...
I live in Germany and have yet to see it.
The product list of an online shop lists all sorts of variants like Mint, Lemon and other specialized cleaning agents (special aircraft cleaner for flight crews O_o). I need the plain simple non anything one, right? (Why is exactly that one missing? )
Is the product acidic/basic? Maybe I can substitute it somehow.

Dettol leaves a nasty thick goopy residue which is a bitch to shift unless you use a toothpick in all the recesses. Takes too damned long too and any splashes stick to whatever you've just hit.

Fairy Power Spray. 2 squirts, toothbrush to get it into the nooks and crannies, leave it. 15 minutes later quick brush under water. Done!
Splashes on surfaces, if you get any, is water soluble so just wipes off.
Doesn't make your mini's smell either. Works on plastics, metal and I've had no issues with GS either.

+1 for Fairy Power Spray, best product I've used to strip paint by far, gets 85% of my undercoats off too on plastics. Metals come out like new.

When you go to checkout you state the country you're in and it works it out for you. It's a big one though! £8.99 for postage to Germany!!

If you know any UK people ask them to post you a bottle.

In short: Yes.

Some people use Dettol, others use Acetone, others use brake fluid. All of them have limitations, fumes, can't use on plastics, green stuff etc, etc.

Having persevered with most of them and swore an awful lot I found that Fairy was an absolute Godsend and has virtually no drawbacks and most important is quick!

If you're stuck and really want to try it, PM me and I am sure we can arrange something.

Fairy Power spray is good guys but its expensive enough over here let alone sending it to Germany. Dettol similar problem and the glooping people are referring to is caused by water getting into the mix.

Simple Green can be imported to Europe but I'm not sure of the costs or any minimum order you may need to place.

Just grab any non-corrosive oven cleaner and spray some in some water. Soak for 24 hours and scrub with a tooth-brush. Brake fluid works about as well.

Never used dettol because oven cleaner is way cheaper.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

Brake fluid did not strip the base coat. It worked on the color though.

I repeat: brake fluid only removed the paint, not the base coat.

Unfortunately, I still have to work on the Chaos Black, it would have been cool if I wanted a black base coat. Maybe GW changed the recipe recently?

'Will try oven cleaner. Without acetone obviously. If all things fail, I'll give the pvc floor cleaner a go or think about a mail order of Fairy/removeALL. (and I'll also think about somebody who may have a use for some pvc floor cleaner).

A little side note about Simple Green: It seems there is a distributor Simple Green in Germany.

Beware of acetone free nail polish remover. If it still smells like acetone, it contains a similar chemical compound that will react with plastic in a similar way, 'found it out the hard way.

I now have a tau nurgle tank commander, BUT THE DAMN BASE COAT IS STILL STUCK ON IT!!!

I tried with gasoline and diesel. Guess what, it melted the plastic but the coat stayed on...
