Can someone please answer me on the base size of a Fenris wolf? I looked everywhere and couldn't find one. Furthermore, is there a definitive source for base sizes for models that don't exist in the GW library? The only thing I have found is for the nid pods something that they had to count as the same size as a marine pod in the INAT FAQ. Which really doesn't make sense since they aren't vehicles and get none of the benefits as a pod such as having LOS through it.

There is not.

There is no clear answer anyone can give you. If a model exists, use the base it comes with. If a model doesn't exist, there is no official rule or guidline to go by.

But, in practical situations, use a base that makes "sense" for the model, and no one will object. This means it needs to be big enough for the model to fit on, and not clearly too large or too small. It helps to use "standard" 40k base sizes, but I've seen alternate bases used and fantasy bases used, and no one objects.

Other details are left to you.

Well, the models I am using are fantasy wolves. they came with "beast" bases which don't really exist in 40K. I was thinking of mounting them on standard size bases.

There is. No Rule allowing use (You must use Citadel Miniatures) means you can't use it!

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod1170223 looks like 1"x2" cavalry bases exist in 40k. If you need to be ready for fussy opponents and whimsical judges, I'd say paint the puppy with holes drilled into the feet and prep a 40mm round base, a Calvary base and a bike base, all with wires pointing up so you can move the puppy from one base to another. Personally i think you should just chose one [cavalry IMHO], glue it on and if an opponent complains, tell them they are being a and find another opponent.

total coming soon... ish

Gwar: There is a rule saying use Citadel Miniatures. But, does it actually specifically say you have to use Citadel Miniatures as the model they are described as? Can't I use a wolf from Citadel's Warhammer Fantasy line as a Fenrisian wolf?

That is perfectly acceptable, because they be Citadel Miniatures.

If it wasn't, a lot of Daemon Players would be very sad!
