I've just started a Night Lords army but I have no idea how to paint them; does anyone know how?

Shooting terrified guardsmen, bolt pistol in hand.

Regal blue and shining gold, prehaps with a little ice blue running up the armor -Simple but effective.

Gathering the Informations.

Necron Abyss.

You want a very dark blackish-blue.
The "lightning" effect, which is where you'd want a white/white-grey, is a purely personal thing that was done by some troopers and it's not really necessary.

It might not be, but I said it because I think they look a lot less bland with it.

Well, that's why you give them a gold trim or paint their helms to look more like skulls, etc etc.

The lightning gets...very "busy". It's also slightly difficult and tiresome to do across the entire army.

Prehaps, but maybe a little bit on each model, like a bit on the leg, the head, etc would make it look better. I haven't of the skull helmet idea though, that would make them look really cool- CommissarCandlestick should try it.

I'm also starting a night lords army so far I only have a test mini and the startings of my Raptor lord painted but I started with a mordian blue mixed with chaos black base coat layered up with pure mordian and then modian mixed with enchanted blue the gold I did with scorched brown and shining gold then washed the whole thing with badab black it gave me a great dark blue and bronze base to work from and the lightning I did with enchanted blue, ice blue, and skull white.

A very VERY late reply, but I achieve fantastic effects with this easy method:

A note though - I use Vallejo paints and an airbrush.

I start with airbrushing the blue. a coat of VMA Insigna Blue, then highlight with VMA Blue Angels Blue and a final highlight with VMA Light sea Blue.

The lightning effects is a mixture of dry retarder, VMA light Blue, VMC Off White. I use a very thin brush which I clean after every stroke.

I then use Vallejo Liquid Gold Old Gold for the Rims, using a synhtetic brush and alcohol.

All red areas I paint with a dark-red mix of Khorne Red and Dark Angels Green, which I highlight up to Khorne red and a final edge highlight up to Fiery Orange.

The metal parts are painted a dark brown (any will do) and then drybrushed Boltgun Metal (or equivalent - Leadbelcher or a mix of VMA Steel with black) and highlighted with VMA Steel (Mithril silver)
