Been working on these guys for the better part of the last week, final spur of initiative to finish comes with a friendly match I need them for tomorrow at 3pm. Just have 4 more Jump-packs to finish up, paint the edges of the bases, and they're done. Here's the first one with its Jump-pack on.
You may notice on the first 3 some of the purity seals weren't complete with text. Realized that on the 4th pic and filled em out.
First time I've taken the layered color & spec of white approach to painting the lenses. Safe to say I'm going to keep using this method over the pure Scorpion Green way I've relegated myself to previously.
Closer look at the base
All of the bases for these guys are made of cork, here's a thread I did previously that shows all of them

Utilizing Careful Highlighting

I like how the black looks like its been painted on the night before battle and has a highlighted look to it without the stark hard ones you normaly see .

Glad you bring that up, I generally don't care much for high contrast of highlights on marines, they only really seem fitting on Eldar. But, that's just, like, my opinion, man.

Looks great. I like the muted colors. They look much more realistic than the bright vibrant colors you see on SM some times.

Big Lebowski FTW. Did you highlight/shade/drybrush the black at all? Or is it just flat black?

Also a fan of muted colors, and this is simply great. Keep it up.

Violence is not the answer, but it's always a good guess. |

I tried highlighting the legs a with a dark gray. I found it decent but not all worth the trouble. I really do try to make my models look as good as possible, with the limitation that I do use them for actual gaming, so they are going to get dinged up eventually.
