I've lost a Razorback so now only got 8 :( but I've gained another Priest which is much needed after tests games, got infernus pistols in all melta units for added melta - might not be in 2D6 range but will help being S8 AP1 alone. I've thrown in another power weapon and chapter banner on the Honour Guard, this gives them 5 power weapon attacks each that's 15 in total which will hit on 3+ mostly thanks to the squads Priest and then 3+ to wound too, throw in a Librarian and these guys re-roll to hit as well - expensive but very very nasty and give me another Priest

Total long range fire power is 8 las/plas Backs with 8 lascannons 8 twin-linked plasma guns added with 8 missile launchers, 6 meltas, 4 flamers and plenty of power weapons

What you think?

Hi Mercer, lists like this worked well at NovaCon since there were no KP missions.
It may appear that an IG player will have a field day vs your paper-thin tanks.

I'd throw a few Predators into the mix since these beauties are fast.
Try to keep the Razorbacks behind for getting 3+ cover saves.

Main issue I have seen with lists similar to this is it's all about how well you roll on the damage chart. Sometime you will annihilate, other times you'll make a batch of fail sauce. With piles of min squad size you're offering up a LOT of killpoints.

Kill points are a problem and some weapons will indeed blow away my thin tanks, I just hope I've got weight of numbers in the tanks.

Preds would be cool but only way of getting them in would be dropping the Devastators, which I need for long range fire power and extra bodies. Would love two Baals with flamestorms in there, but Razor-Spam would start going down :( I'll have to lump it.

Baals with flame storms don't earn their points back because they are in melta range and just get destroyed assault cannon heavy bolter Baals work much better and hmm try maybe a vindicator lol hose are always fun and have better armor and everything will be focusing on that because those can be scary against evertything.

Well mercer I run a list very similar to this, but with no devies, no priest, and only 5 assault squads, with a mix of turrets, and 6 preadators. Only lost one game with it, which was the first when I was trying to get to close, so it was my fault. I would agree that the preads are better than the devies. If you dropped the devies and a priest, you could get 3 preads w/ auto, las combos, but you would also have to free up 5 more pts. I posted my list on here a few weeks ago if you want to give it a look.

I second TotA.
Preds provide target saturation and help to keep your Razorbacks alive.
Dev's are not a must have in such an army. You want to be mobile but you have to care about the shooting angles of the Dev's.

I wouldn't take a Baal with assault cannon and heavy bolters, can get a dakka Predator for a lot cheaper.

Wouldn't take a Vindicator unless in pairs. Might work though.

I've tried the auto/las Preds and the things I don't like about them is the weaker side armour which can be flanked and you cannot always get LOS on those sponsons. Dropped them now, originally I did take three instead of the Devasatators.

As mentioned, I ran triple Preds before but I didn't find they worked for me. They did take more directed fire however, though, I do like Vindicators....

The thing about the Devs is they add extra infantry and plenty of S8 missiles. I've only used them once in a game and I found them to be meh TBH. Justicar Alaric who I regularly play seems to have average luck with his too. Maybe I'll try triple Vindicators or something see how it goes.

How do you get a 3+ cover save Fux?

If the Razorbacks shoot the enemy by not exposing the front (hiding behind Preds)? Should work.

No that will be 4+ cover. You get 3+ cover if in a different firing arc. So if a krak missile is coming straight ahead you'll get 4+ as still in the arc of the front.

That was my thought. The missile can hit at the side but not at the front.

You fire at the turret which counts as LOS to it, would be 4+ cover.

Hmmm, I'm thinking triple Baal Predators with flamestorms, anyone used them? Will give me some nasty anti infantry.

I tried to run a couple in my list but they never seemed to make up the points, and the dakka preads may be cheaper than the assault cannon preads but nowhere near as effective. As for the auto las preads, vs. devi missiles, maybe you use them differntly. I always have at least 4 of my 6 preads left at the end of the game, but I keep my librarians next to the preads for cover saves in the open.

i have to disagree slightly, i run two baals with flamestorm HB, and each time i have played with them i have wiped out my friends shrike + 10 man assault unit, so for a 135point unit to wipe out a 400+ unit i don't mind it being in melta range now and again, the flamestorm cannon is great for killing MEQ types. It's the first unit on my list.

Well, what I mean is that the enemy is at the front angle of the Razorback but can only target the side.
