I read when a Deathwatch is organized/formed, it is usually composed of several chapters. However, if a deathwach is large enough, would there be chapter specific squads assembled?

Like, an Ultramarine tacticle squad, a Crimson Fist Sternguard Squad, and an Imperial Fist Terminator Squad?

Or would every squad be a hodge-podge of different chapters?

I have my hands on a fistful of Inquisitor shoulderpads, but I really don't like the idea of 10 different chapter shoulder pads.

I think a deathwatch tactical squad or devastator squad would look bitchin, but wanted some opinions/feedback, first.

As far as I can tell, they're thoroughly mixed. I've never seen a fluffy example of an Imperial Fist Deathwatch squad, or an Ultramarines Deathwatch squad.

Personally, I painted mine as from about 15 different chapters mostly for the challenge - I wanted to see how well I could freehand all the chapter insignia.

As it turns out, I'm absolutely horrid at painting iron crosses and fists, but not too terrible at stylized Us or ravens with blood drops.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

The Deathwatch rulebook has tons of (new) info on the Deathwatch, but does not talk about squads made up of the same chapter. It does mention having more than one member of a squad from the same chapter, but never whole Chapter-based formations. The main point is that they want the experiences of lots of different Chapters in each squad, so not mixing them up kinda defeats the purpose of that.

They seemed to imply that there were Dark Angels/Dark Angel Successor based Kill-Teams(serving under Dark Angel Watch-Captains) who doubled as the eyes and ears of the Unforgiven too.

But otherwise, what HBMC said. Kill-Teams would, if going by the fluff, break every rule of the Codex you can imagine. They're made up of heroes of the Astartes, men who can function as an army unto themselves.

It's kinda hard to take them seriously when they're fielded en masse and dying in droves.

I see. Ah, well. I had imagined that in larger Deathwatch assemblies that chapters might send a tac squad, or a sternguard squad, and so on.

Well, then. I'll have to get my hands on some shoulder pads, then.

Well that's the thing.

There are no "larger Deathwatch assemblies". They organize Kill-Teams to meet objectives, not assign objectives to meet what Kill-Teams in the area can handle.
