Abit of a reboot, but here's my motivational blog so I can finaly finish my first army. At the moment I probably have more than 2000 points to paint or repaint, and hopefully this blog will help me get through it all! Any tips, critic, ideas or praise is welcome.

I'm probably gonna wash the part where his head meets his "ears" to get some contrast between the reds, but he's pretty much done. Any thought about him?

I think some more work on the backpack on the KB would help make it "pop". Add some green or blue wires.

@chowderhead13, ay, I feel that the backpack is missing something to. I'm kinda resistant to coloured wires, I might paint em silver thought, or perhaps it'll be enough to paint the vent silver?
I'll definetly try to add some gore, but probably one's I have everyone painted so I can mix a whole batch of the goey stuff. I was thinking of trying this one;

Looks great! The gold is really well done on the model.

If GW made an article i would trust that it works well. I haven't personally done that but it looks solid. I usually paint little tiny dots of red randomly along the blade(poorly descrided) but it works for me.

@Limbo, Definitely do the vents silver, or if you're feeling really good, bronze. I use Vallejo paints and GW paints, so try Hammered Copper (Or Hammered Bronze, the name is escaping me).

NEVER use a GW blood article. Just slather the Red gore and Blood Red onto the chain and weapon, and go at it.

I like how the red turned out on this one, was really struggling with the base coat -.-
Something my friend pointed out that I've been thinking about. Is the gold to dark? He felt that it blended togheter with the red abit to much

I feel that the gold shouldn't really stick out. The gold is more trimming, thought it wouldn't look that bad if it "popped".

And more than a month later, They're done!



Picture is alittle bad I know. The reason I didn't update with each individual Berzerker was that this is after all called Limbos Iron Warriors, not Limbos Berzerkers. I will try to update more regulary from now on, but I'm a slow painter with little concentration, so we'll see how that goes. Next on my to-do list: Lords and Champions!!

Advice on taking pics. Put a hobby lamp 36 inches above the mini's, I generally like to use a flash although alot of folks think it makes the mini's look bad.


I'll follow this thread for sure. Would love to see some more close ups of the Iron Warriors....pretty much my favorite CSM legion.

I'll take that advice in the future, I think my main problem is that I shake the camera right as I take the picture. Perhaps it's time to stack some books for stability.
Need some opinion on my terminator lord, what colour should his Lightning Claws be? Atm I'm leaning to either green, blue or red, mostly green.

I like your terminator lord Paint the claws green, it works with my power swords...

Chaos black base with Ice Blue for the primary "power" color, then some skull white highlights. Biggity bam, tons of contrast with the darked metallic scheme.

Also, are you using a camera or a camera phone? Cause it really looks like you'd get MUCH better results with proper lighting. Honestly.....my pics without flash look very similar to yours. Gonna go work on my own IW Termie lord here in a bit....thanks for the pics of the yellow/black caution symbols.

Good! I reccomend using a real camera over silly camera phones (except 4g Iphone). More tips on photo's.

Don't put the camera too close. Tap the zoom just a tad while on auto focus, making sure that there isn't much stuff in the background. This will allow you to get a very clear pic of a single mini. Its also a really good idea to blow up pics onto your monitor so you can see imprefections that the naked eye misses.


Lighting on this is a 35 watt halogen lamp 16 inches up with the light pointed towards the wall. I used auto focus and flash. Camera is probably about 4 inches from the mini. I set the camera on my desk to steady it.

That's some crazy conversion you got there, count as obliterator? I'm still using normal light bulbs so my photos will look abit yellow. I did a test picture with the flash and it just threw nasty shadows, perhaps I need to position my hobby lamp abit better

Totally. Make sure the model is DRENCHED in light, then your flash with knock out almost all the rest of the shadows. Yeah, thats probably an Oblit set up....maybe Warsmith. Its all magnetized to feth and back so can swap things around as needed.

Should probably try to build a light box or something, have seen some really simple ones

Warsmith pretty much done! Tried to improve the picture quility abit, hope it's better (works well if you zoom in on the picture in the gallery). I'm really happy with how the cape turned out, and I like the claws too. Any C&C welcome!

For an upcoming game vs my friends orks, I made myself 2 more Havoc Marines with Missile Launchers
First one is probably my new favorit model, altought that will depend on how well he holds togheter...

No updates, but I have to post this anyway. I won a game for the first time today =D 2 games in fact! 1000 and 1500 vs Orks. My Dreadnoughts have earned themselvs first place in my "to-paint" line

Cool havoc marines! I see you have used the new FW parts, what are they like in terms of mold quality?

The body parts are great! Only complaint is that the legs are just alittle to small for the CSM torso, can look kinda weird from the wrong angle. As for the weapons, the Sword you get is very thin, I'm afraid to use it cause paint might bend it. Pistols are a little thin to. Other than that, they're awesome!
Thanks for all comments! The bionic havoc marine is one of my favorite models, so I'll probably paint it soon.

Been working on some champions and standard marines recently, and I'll post em when they're based and done. In the mean time, here's a WIP shoot of my Nurgle Dread that's been unpainted since last christmas!



Any suggestions for the base? Was thinking of doing a grassy field, only the grass is rotten where hes stepped
