So I think the daemons are really handicapped by the combination of deepstrike 1/2 army plus the inability to assault after deepstriking. I think the next codex should address this. Maybe the whole army should not be able to assault after deepstriking, but some units should. Also, if daemons can't pull in their reserves, they fight the majority of the rounds at hald strenght or less. So you deepstrike in half strenght, and then you can't even assault...which means your opponent can concentrate on fewer forces, and assault you if they wish. Dealing with possible mishaps, the inability to assault, and half strength beginnings can sometimes put daemons at a serious disadvantage.

What do you think?

The major weakness with the Daemon codex involves models punching vehicles, and getting killed when the vehicle blows up.

Something that would be really useful would be the close combat equivalent to the shooting at transports rule--the ability for everyone to be able to consolidate into combat with the passengers after wrecking or exploding a transport in close combat.

+1 to DS, or some units being able to assault on the drop.

Or, just add in some melta here and there (or lance)

I'd keep the core of it the same (all deepstirkes, split into 2 waves) I'd consider increasing the cost of icons, but offset it with the ability to assault if you DS of an icon.

I'd also give more options for gifts and also some form of psychic defense, but what I'd really like to get in is the feeling that the world is itself suffering from the incursion, include area effect such as all non daemons are in dificult/dangerous terrain. Or even abilities to turn terrain into weapons - All units in a areas suffer so may hits etc.

My friend plays Daemons and right now I think they are on of the most terrible armies in the game.

The problem is GW is at a bit of a loss for what to do with Daemons. Last edition they were overpowered like crazy. You could drop a squad of Bloodletters (10 of them) right next to Terminators and assault. I lost 10 Terminators in 1 turn because of that. This edition though, they are underpowered. They come in peicemeal and get torn apart by shooting/assaulting.

I think a fair rule for Daemons would be they can't Deepstrike within 1" of an enemy unit, but if they scatter on to an enemy unit instead of suffering a mishap, they come on in btb with the unit and count as being in close combat (not assaulting though so no benefits for either side). Utilizing that rule I think its fair because that way Daemon players wouldn't be able to guarentee an assault and at the same time an unfortunate scatter could turn out to be beneficial.
