Hey DakkaDakka!

I'm new to 40k and I've been building up my nid army slowly. Well our progression league is getting close to 1000 points and i'm starting to think that i'm needed some Mycetic spores in my army. I'm more interested in making and army that looks good vs one that is a tourney winner so i need some ideas on what to use for makeing my spores. I've heard of using the foam eggs from the hobby store and doing some modding (i'm not an experienced green stuffer or modeler so this would take a lot more work lol) or i've also heard of using the Mega Blocks dragon eggs. I used to see them all the time at the stores but now i can't find em anywhere. Any suggestions/idea/examples of spores that you guys have done that i can look to for inspiration?

If you are curious what i'm doing with my army i've posted some pics in my gallery. Any tips and suggestions on the painting/modeling is always appriated! Thanks for your time and help guys!

You can pick up the plasma hatchers from ebay for around £4 each, and they require pretty much no real work on them if you dont want to.

However, you can go to town converting them if you wish.

Look in my blog in my sig, under my top posts widget. Look for the one called "spore pods that dont suck."

I'll give you the gist of it: take one of those Poof brand footballs and cut it in half (cut it closer to the tip if you want smaller pods). Using a sharp utility knife, cut the four sections away so that they look like petals, then use paper clips and hot glue to make them hold their form and to make tentacles, veins, etc. Toothpicks can be spines
