So,

Having suffered a bout of dizziness and a funny feeling head last night and this morning I went to my Doctor and was diagnosed as....suffering from Vertigo!

What.

The.

Heck!

It could stem from an inner ear problem, so I have some tablets for that, but, seriously, Vertigo! What kind of medical complaint is that!

At least it wasn't a burning sensation, requiring ointment/shot and a very difficult conversaiton with the significant other!

Maybe he used my preferred method of diagnosis.

The fuzzy dice of medicine!

My ear keeps on popping whenever I ride my bike and it dulls all sounds but amplifies the sound of my breathing and speech; I literally can't hear what other people say and when I try to reply I deafen myself o.O

TBF my current doctor seems to print the prescription out before you have even finished speaking with him.

He is either House or a drug company stooge.

I say go and join DOOMFART. It should increase the severity of your vertigo until you transcend time and space as well.

Oh, your in the UK.

How is the healthcare system there there?

Hopefully not like ours:

Free limb removal after every second check-up!

I am transcending just nicely thanks to the vertigo meds.

Oh, your in the UK.

Is being on the the American continent a prerequisite for joining? I think you may be too isolationist.

If you are lucky you get to beg an appointment from overzealous receptionsts who treat every appointment made as an affront to their dignity. Its pretty...'englishy' really.

I for one would welcome you into DOOMFART if I actually cared to join.

I may just for the hell of it make a counter-counter-revolutionary force to oppose the DOOMFART movement.

I have no real idea who or what this 'DOOMFART' is but a counter counter revolutionary force to oppose them sounds...the same? and pretty dandy at that too!

I have no idea what spawned their movement other than they are looking to down the mods. I'm just adding in an extra counter- to be ahead of the curve.

It's narky receptionists that are the true doom of socialised medicine. My sister was nealry killed by one when she came in with no white cells and a completely shot immune system with an urgent letter from her doctor insisting she be put into isolation, and the receptionist refused to read it and forced her to go wait in the ER with all the other sick people. She picked up something like 6 infections and passed out crying, where a nurse friend of hers found her and moved her to a trolley in the hall, where a doctor found her, read the letter, freaked out and put her in an isolation ward. Good job, Irish health system.

I had that once, it was caused by an ear infection. I had to take anti-dizziness tablets, but I could not stand up if I closed my eyes.

My mother has it now. In her case they think it is caused by low blood pressure and she is taking some other kind of tablets for it.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Well...thats akin to a women who actually died in a waiting room here in America-

http://articles.cnn.com/2008-07-01/us/waiting.room.death_1_hospital-staff-hospital-employee-kings-county-hospital-center?_s=PM:US

A 49-year-old woman collapsed and died on the floor of a waiting room at a Brooklyn psychiatric hospital and lay there for more than an hour as employees ignored her, according to the New York Civil Liberties Union, which on Tuesday released surveillance camera video of the incident.

Esmin Green was involuntarily admitted to the psychiatric emergency department of Kings County Hospital Center on June 18 for what the hospital describes as "agitation and psychosis."

Upon her admission, Green waited nearly 24 hours for treatment, said the civil liberties union, which was among the groups filing suit against the facility last year seeking improved conditions for patients.

The surveillance camera video shows the woman rolling off a waiting room chair, landing face-down on the floor and convulsing. Her collapse came at 5:32 a.m. June 19, the NYCLU said, and she stopped moving at 6:07 a.m. During that time, the organization said, workers at the hospital ignored her.

At 6:35 a.m., the tape shows a hospital employee approaching and nudging Green with her foot, the group said. Help was summoned three minutes later.

In addition, the organization said, hospital staff falsified Green's records to cover up the time she had lain there without assistance.

"Contrary to what was recorded from four different angles by the hospital's video cameras, the patient's medical records say that at 6 a.m., she got up and went to the bathroom, and at 6:20 a.m. she was 'sitting quietly in waiting room' -- more than 10 minutes since she last moved and 48 minutes after she fell to the floor."

The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, which oversees the hospital, released a statement Tuesday saying it was "shocked and distressed by this situation. It is clear that some of our employees failed to act based on our compassionate standards of care."

After a preliminary investigation, the corporation said it suspended or terminated six employees, "including staff involved with the direct care of the patient as well as managers of security and clinical services," the statement said.

A Health and Hospitals Corporation spokeswoman said it was aware of the discrepancies in Green's record when it began the preliminary investigation on June 20. That information is now in the hands of various investigatory agencies, she said.

The corporation pledged to put "additional and significant" reforms in place in the wake of the incident.
