Hey Everyone,

I'm fairly new to the 40K universe and I play mainly Tyranids. That being said, I just bought a bunch of old models from a guy which contained a few models that I can't figure out. I'm completely new to Space Marines and even my friend who plays them is having some trouble determining who/what these models are... In the posted pic I have 4 models.. two of which are the same model.

The guy I got them from thought these were the following..
- Force Commander
- Chaplain
- Librarian
But he was a kid when he used them and has all sorts of weird combinations of pieces on the other models... so I'm kind of lost.

But I don't know if he's right and I really don't think he is... Please help me identify these models....

I'm thinking that
1. Librarian with power sword
2. Chaplain
3.Maybe Veterains w power axe's???

Again, these models are old, so they probably look different now then they did then... help!!

Nearly. You got the first two right, but numbers 3 and 4 are Space Marine Captains

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

The last two look like Black Templar Marshals.

Also, I recommend you ask someone about cleaning off those models before painting. Seems like they might need it.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

You also need to add two hands with pistols to the captains, and I swear I see some leftover sprue on the chaplains backpack at least.

The ones on the right could easily be honourguard.

Solved!!!

http://kofler.dot.at/40k/marines.html

This guy has an extensive list of almost (if not all) Space Marine units ever!

1. I was right about the Librarian
For the others see http://kofler.dot.at/40k/marines_others.html
2. Imperial Fist Chaplain
3 & 4: are Black Templar Marshal's

Thanks to everyone for the help... and yeah, I'm going to clean these guys up before I put ANY paint on them...

^^^ "Marshals" not "Marshal's" - the apostrophe isn't necessary, as it's a plural not possessive.

Those models are Space Marine commanders, and not specific to Black Templars in any way. I got one and it was called the GW birthday captain or something akin to that. Really you could use it for anything though.

Huh, I was going to guess the first was an old Thousand Sons mini-until I looked closer at the headpiece

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

It was originally released as a BT Marshal. Later re-released as a generic Captain.
