Hi,
back from the world's biggest game's fair in Essen. Ziterdes, a German tabletop terrain producer, was present and showed some new stuff (pics will follow when their websotore is updated).
New stuff will be:
Fantasy (all realistic looking, no skulls!):
A square tower
A slightly smaller round tower.
A cottage.
A manor house with tower (released Q1 2011).
A water mill (two buildings in a row, released Q1 2011).
(already released a big inn with open interior to be filled by extra furniture, ideal for rolegamers and not too expensive http://www.ziterdes.de/ziterdes/en/produkte/article_detail.php?we_objectID=3084435&catID=&subcatID= )
SciFi:
A simple landing platform
Pulp/Steampunk/Super Heroes
Victorian townhouse with open interior ( http://www.ziterdes.de/ziterdes/en/produkte/article_detail.php?we_objectID=3367859&catID=&subcatID= )
Victorian factory building
plus three sets of robust trees (softer bendable plastic with flocking material, not as fragile as current GW trees http://www.thomarillion.de/index.php?seite=katalog&unterseite=&modell=bbs_eiche&pos=1&sprache=gb_ ).
Personal tidbit: I bought the very last one of Ziterdes' digestion pools, now they are out of stock and discontinued:
Ziterdes stuff is designed by Thomarillion (4 people named Thomas, all fans of the Silmarillion ) and then produced in Noch hardfoam. They once produced stuff for GW as well, like the cemetary or Ork village. I will post all new stuff by Ziterdes or Thoarillion in this thread.

Thanks for the info Kroothawk !! I have a small selection of their items and they are great. The Ruined Monestary is one of my favorites.
I've been really tempted to get their "Dark City" (Dunklestadt?) line of modular dungeon components for a while now.
Anyone have any thoughts, experience or reviews of it ?

has anyone ever used their gaming mats? I am hoping they are not like the railroad flocked matts made by woodland scenics (that shed flock like mad).

Which gaming mat do you mean? I only have found one gravel mat that can't be shipped outside Germany: http://www.ziterdes.de/ziterdes/en/produkte/article_detail.php?we_objectID=897742&catID=70&subcatID=77
As the parent company is a model railroad supplyer (Noch), they might not be suitable for tabletop games.
For tabeltop games, Ziterdes offers a modular gaming board similar but cheaper and less sturdy than GW's battle board (which most certainly was "inspired" by the Ziterdes product):

I have twelve of the modular gaming board panels, and I would also describe them as the 'cheaper' variation compared to the GW option (i.e. less expensive, but also less durable).
They do have far more options in the tile designs though, which was a big selling point for me. They also come pre-painted (badly) but a buddy and I repainted them (and magnetized them for easier setup) as well as adding some metal brackets at the corners for extra strength.
Here's a random in game pic of them

Oh - BTW i did get one of the "gaming" mats, and it is very similar to railroad matt. It sheds quite a bit, so not really designed for gaming in my mind.

Those modular table boards are very very interesting.
Dam you for tempting my bank balance.
Can you guys elaborate on "less durable" then the GW ones?
Ive noticed a small amount of warping on two of my GW ones (granted I dont store them very well). Is there much work in reinforcing them jackmojo as you did?

The boards look to be more of a vacuum mold than a pressure cast system like gw. The plastic is a bit thinnger, and you do not have the interlaced supports on the back. For supporting models - no big deal. Just do not plan on standing on top of the modular board tiles and you will be fine.

Cool, thanks!
They seem to be great value from what I can tell too.

Personally, I switched from these to Hotz mats though, as I prefer full modularity.

Was again on the world's biggest game's fair in Essen with ziterdes present. This year the big news is a modular SciFi corridor/room system that was on sale there and will be soon on their website.

That looks like a pretty involved set. Are those curved wall sections one piece on the base or do they break down further?

Parts are:
1.) Quarter room with floor and corner-door (4 of those make one room with flat floor, each 4x4 squares)
2.) Quarter room with side-door (see photo in the back)
3.) Ramp/stairs
4.) bridge element
5.) Column for bridge
6.) Corridor/techno-trench straight (4 squares IIRC)
7.) Corridor/techno-trench corner
8.) Corridor/techno-trench T
9.) Corridor/techno-trench end
Made from the usual Ziterdes foam, so lightweight and robust.
The bastion in the middle, the knight statues and some other details are not part of the corridor system.
