We all had great fun visiting the universe where 40k was a prepainted collectable game

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/322083.page

but what alternate GW-verse would you want to visit? That is what world that is just like ours but GW made different decisions with their products and IP.

I'd love to see the one where Epic continued to be a hit and is still the 3rd core game.

I'd also love to see the one where GW teamed up with Sabban Entertainment to product the Mighty Manly Marines, a saturday morning cartoon aimed at 7 year olds.

Either the one where they actually have reasonable prices for their products, or the one where they actually support their specialist games, preferably where said specialist games are actually popular.

I'd like to live in one where they either updated codices much faster, or, at least, released semi-major overhauls and changes to the books in the Eratta articles.

I can't believe the Elysian codex is being updated! I mean, wow, they haven't been playable since 3rd Edition, and now they're gonna be powerful again! I love the new units, like the air-drop Leman Russ and Commisar with Jetpack. Makes you almost feel sorry for standard IG, what with their codex not being as ridiculously over-the-top. Still, I think Catachan, LatD and Necron armies will continue to reign supreme in 5th; mech just can't compete. Poor Adeptus Mechanicus; maybe next time, eh?

I heard some Space Marine players whining that they haven't been updated since 3rd Edition either, and that ANOTHER Guard codex was written before theirs, and that all their codex builds are Crimson Fist builds. Well, who cares? I don't care if you want your Ultramarine or Salamander or Space Wolf or Blood Angel army, only Imperial Guard is popular enough to warrant multiple codices. Besides, who plays Space Marines? Most people jumped ship to Sisters of Battle or Grey Knights when their codexes beat the hell out of Codex: Crimson Fists and Space Marines. Or they just went over to the side of Chaos, with Codex: Chaos Legions.

Oh, and I can't believe Games Workshop is releasing a plastic Warhound! Good to see that they're still supporting the AM even without their codex.

The one in which Specialist Games both makes decent money and publishes the "Tournament Edition" version of 40K and WHFB with rigorous, well written rules.

I just can't bring myself to believe in a world where GW would publish such a thing.

That would be in game virtual Devlan Mud paid for by micro payments...crafty Gw , crafty.

Epic would be the go to standard for large scale battles with Apoc and Planetstrike styled ad ons etc.

Rulebooks would be well written, typeset and proofed documents, with clarity a key focus along with having fun.

Somewhere someone would be creating an 'odd scale' astartes army, reducing the size of current marine figures.

How about the one where they actually have a playtesting department that doesn't consist of drunken monkeys?

Nah, that's probably too far out there. Don't think that's possible for GW in any universe...

A few words, NO, NO, NO, NO. In my alternate GW reality there can be no squats in anyone elses reality.

Unless Its epic squats, with a land train, and a giant airship, and some kind of macro cannon.......

Hey guys, did you hear? Seanron and Dan Abnett are going to be working together to make the next big 40k movie! Live action, awesome special effects, the works! I'm so glad GW let Damnatus get released as an official project...the amount of revenue they got from that really opened their eyes to what letting the fans make things could do! What with Dan's latest book being #1 on the best sellers for...how many weeks now? I've heard GW's making enough money from other sources, that they can drop the model prices!

Have you seen the leaked screen tests for 'Horus II: this time it's Heresy'? Jason Statham looks awesome as Sanguinius - the blond wig doesn't look half as bad as everyone feared!

Looking forward to it, especially in IMAX!!

Why should they need to be Epic just to have a land train?

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Hmmm...

A reality where as soon as the rules are updated, the codexes are re-released in the latest edition (even if the figs are not yet updated), all of the codexes are spellchecked and errata checked FULLY before being published, where rules are never written in a way where they might contradict the rulebook, a world where there are no FAQ's...

But that's so far fetched I consider it an alternate reality that could never really exist, well... maybe in the demented mind of a madman...

With the clarity of rules everyone should be RAW adherents.

Except the anti GWAR! who postulates theoretical arguments by excising huge chunks of text from rulebooks and codeci.

Such as removing the wording from DOM's entry stating that it is a zoey..etc.
