I converted one of my Space Marines to be in a left handed shooting pose but I'm not sure if I really got it to look the way it should has anyone else done this?

No, I have always wondered how everyone could possibly be right handed in the imperium. I take offense to that as a lefty!

well, they are all implanted with a clone gene seed, so wouldn't they all be the same, one way or the other?
Maybe thats the deal with the two chapters stricken from official records....erased because they were sinister,

The configuration of pistols and close combat weapons allows them to choose handedness, so presumably hold one's long arm to port is simply more dexterous.

I think fluffwise marines are ambi-dextrous (though i can't re-call where it says so but to have genetically enhanced super humans not able to use their left hand for things just wouldn't make sense) but i would guess that bolters are fom an STC of som sort and only come in right-handed versions... but that sounds stupid so go figure.

They are ambidexterous. Also, they are trained to use their weapons in one hand, so that they are all facing the same direction in combat.

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...

But there are Space Wolves that shoot their bolters one-handed in their left hand.
I think it probably has to do with the Codex Astartes' specific teachings on fire drill, since all the heavy weapons are right-handed, as well.
Or, you know, lazy sprue-craft.

actually, use of bolters right handed is more martial than ability, much like the manner of salute,

Maybe all the Astartes just think it looks cooler?

Well the bolter is abidextrous, also the only part of it thats not is the adjustment controls on the left side. But you wouldnt be playing with those in battle anyways, but there just arnt any models for lefty marines thats why you have to convert them yourself which is fine with me. I just wondered if anyone else had done this and had pics I dont have a camera.

Maybe thats the deal with the two chapters stricken from official records....erased because they were sinister,
-- genetic or DNA splicing is not causation to determine the hand you write with. Now a geneseed would cause other subtle similarities like for example, when you make a thumbs up sign, if your thumb curves or is striaght is a trait directly from your parents...so is have the ability to make the 'Live long and prosper sign.' But a preference to the writing hand is no affected by your genes...its an acquired trait not a genetic trait

Check out GWs website.. i have the models, and painted them, but no pics... the Legion of the Damned Marines.. under the blister pack for "legionnaires 3" and Legionnaires 4"
there are 2 GW created Southpaw marines... makes me think i should redo them to be my Officers, since i also am a leftie.

actually... while there's an acquired factor that affects whether or not people are lefties or righties, in its most basic sense however, there should actually be some form of a genetic segregation that determines if someone is left or right hand orientated. its just that with people, most of them will be trained to be right handed since birth. using nature as an example, most animals are naturally 50:50 roughly when it comes to populations of right handed and left handed (or pawed =S). its only in humans where we have more right handed, only because its the 'norm'
so i guess bottom line, genetics CAN play role whether or not a person or human is naturally inclined to left or right hand but it is ultimately the upbringing that determines whether or not a person is going to be right handed (or left handed if that's what other people's upbringing preference is).
