I know BoLS recently did an article on a Blood Angels Fellblade and this inspired me to build a fellblade for my Salamanders army. I was wondering if anyone here on Dakka has attempted a Fellblade conversion of their own? I am planning on using the Stormlord since it has a Vulkan Mega Bolter(it has the Primarchs name in it after all) and can transport 40 models meaning I can cram it full of 10 TH/SS termies + a bunch of Terminator armored Characters easily. I am planning on taking as many Heavy Flamers as I can on it as well.

What are some ideas you have/have made for Space Marine fellblades/ Super Heavies?

Darn. I looked around for it, but it was at least a year old, so it didn't pop up on my RVT list. Sorry :/

It looked pretty good though. He used a baneblade and some other good pieces.

Not to worry it will have lots of flamers and melta. I have considered using some Flame Storm cannons on the sponsons instead of the twinlinked flamers and I will definitely be putting Multimeltas on the hull (in place of the Heavy Bolter) and on top of the sponsons in place of the Las Cannons. I plan on beginning the build tonight/tomorrow and will keep you posted here and on the blog in my sig.

Hey Overwatch, great topic, check out my blog (link is in my sig). I made a Fellblade following the basic BB template of weapons, basing the look on the HH card game artwork. I used parts from the BB kit for the base and wheels, the outer track assembly and the front I made from plasticard, and the turret is from a russian tank kit. My army is Iron Hands, so it isn't too hard to see them with one. I haven't had a chance to paint it, but I'm out of the country now and will be for awhile, so it won't be finished any time soon.

Thanks Heliodore, that looks awesome! I am definitely feeling inspired to work on the project now. My conversions will be much more minimal compared to yours but I definitely plan to do weapon swaps and I have been kicking around the idea of using either a Sgt Chronus or Techmarine model for the tank commander in copula.

It's a Vulcan Mega-Bolter, not Vulkan. C, not K. The VMB has nothing to do with Vulkan, name or otherwise.

I think he was using it anyway and the names happens to fit rather than it has the name of the primarch so they would always use it.

I should have mentioned I was going to name mine a Vulkan megabolter despite it being spelled with a C. I wasn't sure which weapon I wanted to use. I considered several variants but finally settled on the Stormlord because it is short ranged for an Super heavy, and can transport my guys. The fact that I can call it a Vulkan MB is just a nice aside. Would you suggest a different variant as a base for my fellblade? I am open to suggestions.

I always liked the Stormsword (the one with the really big cannon)
But it's long range so maybe the one that fires loads of shots and i can't remember it's name... Might be the Stormlord.

Ya, I figured Volcano or Vulcan because either one can be easily linked to Salamander lore. I have to say I love the look and rules for the Stormblade but Plasma isn't really the Salamander's thing so I didn't consider it. Now, for my traitor guard army on the other hand...

Ah yes! I was looking for your thread. Very nice work. I love the use of those old searchlights. I always thought they looked way too chaotic to be loyalist

Are you planning on painting it anytime soon?

@Overwatch, totally give it a driver, I have Chronus on mine (He's not glued down which is why he's not in the pic), it's a cool model and does give the tank a pre-heresy feel! I saw the BA fellblade you were speaking of, it was pretty darn nice, really liked his turrets, I wonder if he's going to follow through and do a Fellblade for each loyalist chapter, haha! Can't wait to see what you do!

@Samus_Aran, yup, those headlights matched nicely with the HH artwork, which was of a traitor legion FB, but Iron Hands have always been a little questionable! My Fellblade is in the US and I'm in New Zealand, so I won't get to paint it for awhile, so thats why my blog has fallen to the wayside. I'm hoping to revive it soon.

By the way, in the HH artwork, there is a SM Shadowsword that is called a Mammoth tank. Here's and old dead thread with somde info:

Hey guys, finally got around to joining this forum so be kind to the newbie

I was the guy that actually built the Blood Angels' Fellblade mentioned in the first post. Since then I've been working on the second one of the series for the Imperial Fists called The Iron Breaker. Assembly is neary done and I hope to start painting it this weekend.

As you can see the design is based on the old Stormhammer pattern as I thought it fit perfectly with the siege type warfare often used by The Fists (lots of short range dakka dakka). The turret and cannons for this one are new but the rest of the parts are the same casts used on the Blood Angels' Fellblade. But this one of course has a lot more guns....

Worse, it use the Medusa siege cannon rules and it's two templates, not twin-linked

I'm building something similar as a Sisters of Battle vehicle: The Shrine of the Emperor's Wrath. As you can see, I'm using the Land Raider rather than the Baneblade as a basis.

@Machinator, yup love those turrets! Are you also the one selling treads on eBay? Just had to ask, since I recently bought some for my LR.

@Alexholker, looking good, what material are you using?

That looks incredible, great job! I always liked the thought of the Sisters using a rolling cathedral in their army. Don't forget the rocket firing pipe organ

200gsm paper, cereal box cardboard and PVA glue.

Thanks. I was considering the StalinEmperor's Organ, but decided it would take up too much room in the already small shrine (~10 cm by 10 cm). However, it will have a Vulcan Megabolter-mounted pulpit sitting above the assault ramp.

Liberators, they look great! Sadly, they are here with me in New Zealand and my Mk II LR is back in the States, so it will be awhile before I get to make use of them! Your treads are nice and detailed, I did some really simple ones up for my Fellblade (see pic in above post of mine), would have jumped on yours if you had been selling them a year or so ago (or you were and I just never saw them!)

Thanks Heliodore, I'm glad you like the treads. I actually read up on your tank when I was doing research for mine. You did an incredible job with it! If you ever decide to build another one now you know where to get the treads

Wow, thanks Machinator, that means a lot coming from you! I hope when I get to painting my scratch-builds I can pull off something in the vain of your quality of painting! Somewhere down the road I may attempt another Fellblade like tank, probably a Shadowstorm variant, we'll see, I'll certainly keep your treads in mind!
