Fresh-Faced New User

Hi All,
I want to make a unit of 40k zombies carrying/ using guns (bolters). I am not really a great modeler, my skills being limited to cutting and gluing. Any suggestions how to go about this? Thanks in advance.

Buy zombies then attach guns and accessories where needed which shouldnt be too hard. Maybe a bit difficult if you wanted exact gun holding. Maybe even head and arm swaps with guardsmen for more of a military feel

I would say if your hobby skills (conversion) are limited, you might try bashing kits together from both the 40k and Fantasy realm. Look at the undead stuff and vampire counts characters in Warhammer fantasy....see if you find any inspiration there. If not you can scour the internet or comic stores for other games and figures for sale. Best of luck

Buy GW or mantic zombie boxes and mix with cadian boxes for zombie IG
or mix with SM tacticals or CSM for zombie marines w/ bolters...

Buy a box of GW zombies, mix them with Cadian or Catachan models. Rinse and repeat.

I agree w/ all the above. A while back I created some Plague Zombies for my "off off" house Necromunda games, also for use as Traitor Guard for (again, house rules) 40K w/ Chaos Marines. A box of Warhammer Zombies and Imperial Guard (Cadians are more forgiving than Catachans when it comes to painting I think, and the kits mix a little easier scale-wise, but is personal opinion).
In any case, you have a lot of options and you'll have some genuinely unique miniatures when you are finished.

I started making 40K Zombies last year and I agree with all the above suggestions. One thin I did, that I'd recommend is using greenstuff to make each zombie diferent. I love making Obese zombies with a bunch of bites tyaken out of him. That and have them dragging their weapons whenever possible.
Good luck.

Honestly, mixing the Cadian and WHFB Zombie boxes is your best bet, and will remain in scale with each other while still requiring little work to make look good.

As soon as you said that, all I could think about was:
It must be done....

Granesh, you nailed it. The Boomer was exactly what i had in mind when I made Fat Zombies.
Dapeters; even though I have done this, as well as others, the hard time I had with the whole concept was a Zombie effectively using a gun. The idea never sat well with me. Thats why I mad mine dragging them, like it was a club.
Still, your going to have a lot of fun building them and pick up a lot of tips that'll carry over to ther projects.
Cheers.
