Alpha strike Scout lists are fun, but I can't see it working well at 1000 points. You'll throw the majority of your army at the enemy in CC first turn, and without any eventual backup, they'll get destroyed, leaving you with a few bikes. I could see this working as a base for a 2000 point list, replacing Khan with Shrike, and taking some Drop Pods.

Loose the power fists on the bikes and possibly the power weapon on the tac sergeant and buy an extra bike or so imo.

I don't know, but with bikes as troops and their cost I see that this is a difficult list to manage and use. I've tried this twice and always lost.

Get more bikes!

Why do you bring Khan? He is a complete waste of points in a list like this.

A Typhoon is alot better than an Assault Cannon Speeder.

Get MGs on you bikes and incorporate the ABs into the squads.

Not a big fan of the fists.

I tend to be a fan of powerfists. Never leave home w/o them. Khan is good but a bike captain w/ relic blade, artificer armor, and storm shield comes in about 10 points cheaper and is a lot more killy and survivable. I tend to agree w/ tedurur about the lands speeders. Typhoons are better. But they will die quickly when you have no other armor to take the shots. 2 Typhoons in a list full of bikes will die in the first 2 turns. 2 Typhoons in a list with a LR and 2 Vindicators, and rhino's/Razorbacks will likely be alive at the end of the game. Its a matter of target saturation at that point.

Keep in mind that I tend to play in the 1500+ range. There tends to be a while different game at 1k and lower level.

a plain 165 RB+Bike captain will do you more good and save 40 pts that can be used for something else. You will also retain Combat Tactics which is better than Outflank.

You guys not a fan of the artificer armor and storm shield for the bike captain? I'll admit 4++ to 3++ isnt really big, but going from 3+ to 2+ on the armor save is usually enough that a bike capatain can kill an entire meq squad by himself.

Khan actually makes his squad into a feasible close combat unit and in a pinch can kill monstrous creatures. He gives me outflank which might offer some major advantages if i go second and i have chosen the assault cannon due to loving it when you get that highly unlikely pen on a land raider. And penning 11 and 12 on a 6 and it being more effective against Armour 10 than the typhoon.

@tedurur-The attack bikes are by themselves so im not shooting flame and melta at 1 thing and to make them more maneuverable and be able to make use of their range. and i cant combat squad them unless i have 8 bikes.

And powerfists are the only way that a bike squad can kill vehicles walkers or be effective in close.

Im not entirely sure that this list will hold up against armies that are laying around at the moment.

I think if your going to take the bikes give them some ranged weapons and less in a squad to kepp cost down. you can only take so many special weapons per squad anyways so why waste the extra points taking useless normal bikes?

A relic blade captain w/ storm shield will be better able than khan to take on MC's. Khan is only str 5 on the charge. Relic cappy is str 6 all the time and will have a better invuln save if you bought the shield, and still cost less.

His weapon, Moonfang is a power weapon that causes ID on a roll of 6 to wound. While it can kill MC's, A lagre amount of the IC's (most nids and demons) are immune to ID.

Actually it never states that it is a PW. But most people play it as one (as do I).

An assault cannon is not moer effective vs AV10 than a typhoon, they are equally effective when they are within range. SO the typhoon is better vs AV10 as well really, cince you will get more shots of and be father away from retaliating fire.

You can turboboost, why would you feel the need to use the unreliable outflank, and at the expense of loosing combat tactics I might add.

12 str 5 attacks is not really a feasible combat unit in my world. Str 5 gets you 0.33 more unsaved wounds vs a MEQ squad. Id rather stay away from combat.

I never said that you should mix MMABs with flamer bikes, I said that you should change the flamers into MGs and then incorporate the ABs into the squad...

Pg 94 of the Space Marine Codex:

"Moonfang: This is an ancient power sword and a relic of the White Scars Chapter. Any rolls to wound on which Kor'sarro scores a 6 will cause instant death, regardless of the targets toughness."

This is pretty clear to me. Moonfang is a power weapon.

Yes, but some people consider the first part as simply a fluff part.
If you for instance compare to Shrikes LCs it states "These are a pair of master-crafted lightning claws. They ALSO bestow the rending special rule on Shrikes close combat attacks"

but as I said, Im fairly sure that most people play it as a PW with additional rules.

I guess this is what happens when GW likes to mix fluff and game terms in the same paragraph.

Tedurur its the I5 that matters most to me and the hit and run can be really helpful if you get stuck in with some bad company. and with furious charge it means you need a 6 to fail and if you pass you can slingshot even further so if lucky khan himself can go 42 inches and his squad with him can go 36
