I've been considering make a full conversion army with Skaven or Fantasy Orks. If this list does well enough I just may do it

Pretty damn good list there. Only comments I really have are that powerweapons/fists on normal grey hunters seem like a bit of a waste as they only have 1 base attack. I'd scrap some hunters and fit in Wolf Guard with Pfist + combi-weapon of some sort. That or just take MoW.

Secondly while very powerful, the list if also very predicatable. Beware the tournament experienced players will expect this kind of list and have ways of dealing with it.


Other than that, I would really love to play against this list. Seems like a challenge.

Lol! It'll be worth the looks on their faces when I unpack it :p Well, they have a base of 2 attacks and three on the charge because they come with a full package, bolter, pistol, and CCW. Predictable, sure. But, that's like saying a leaf blower list is predictable. Even though you may expect it, it will still make you cry. It's still not easy to beat, even with full drop lists.

Good list, But you still need a long range solution to AV 14. Your opponents will likely have AV 14 at the 1500 point level.

I would hardly call legal list building a TFG move. The list is solid but will have problems w/ gunlines and parking lot.

I missed the 3 Las/Plas Razorbacks in my first read thru. I might also suggest cutting one of the hunter squads to get the points to upgrade one of the fang squads to las cannons.

powerfists only grants you an additional attack for two ccw if the second one is a powerfist as well

Hamham, I believe he was talking about the Grey Hunters receiving an additional attack when armed with a Power Weapon.

Really, this list is pretty tought to beat; however, just with the Long Fangs it and the Lazorbacks covering the armored assault...it won't make many friends. This is one you save for tournaments and "unfriendly" play. That's why I said its a TFG list by nature, but I think the OP appreciates that.

Well, I suppose that I can get a full Pack, i.e. 5 Lascannons, if I drop the 5 man razor hunters. It's definitely something to think about. I'm really not worried about Marine AV 14, because those always come straight at you, or fall out of the sky My concerns lie with IG AV14. I've had good luck with Str8 weapons, but I see your point. The first couple times I'll have to see if the meltaguns are going to be enough.

The list will have trouble with Landraiders + Terminators. Esp loganwing armies.

Leadership of greyhunters is too low for my liking, esp when its spammed. You might want a wolf guard in there instead.

Will also probably be chewed to bits by alpha strike, then again its pretty solid, but not optimized.

I feel that there's plenty of plasma to handle Logan wings. I don't know of many Terminator lists that can field more than 30 at 1500, and that's without vehicles, and still be anywhere near effective. And, on Grey Hunters and Rhinos, you go for the full squad so they become a mobile pain in the @$$ bunker. I can fire plasma/melta out of the hatch. You can only get 2 plas or melta with a full unit. By taking the Wolf Guard you lose a special weapon. Hence, you make them less effective at their given task. I will consider that Lascannon squad however, since there seems to be so much concern about it.

Dual Land Raiders is about the only thing that can give this list exceptional problems in terms of armor; however, when you get to that point you're looking at ~1000 points tied up between 4 units...that's really no big deal as it allows you to vaporize the other 500 points and let you deal with the Raiders on your terms. (I.e. The 4 Meltas)

The one that I would worry about is the plethora of Feel no Pain that's going to appear. That's why Plasma could be favorable here.

Play test it and see what you need!

I'm talking about the type of loganwing army that brings ordinary wolf guard to soak up Ap2 shots, Land raiders, and long fangs of their own. Arjac and Logan is particularly hard to deal with even with plasma weapons, let alone in close combat. What makes loganwing effective against your build is because they will just save those Ap3 Krak missiles - which is the sales pitch of your army.

I'm gonna ask you a question: How many times do you really fire the melta gun in a game? Once or twice, right?
I also noticed you have a power weapon for your grey hunters in each squad as "Insurance" in assault.

I have a suggestion: Why not drop the 10th grey hunter with melta, instead, replace him with a Wolfguard that has a PFist and a combi melta? That way, you have LD9, 2 STR 8 attacks per turn and you still have that melta gun. Another consideration is to forget about the 2nd melta and just bring along a Wolf guard with a frost blade: 3 str5 attacks every turn anyone? Also, an additional ablative on your long fangs would be welcome. (BTW, WG gives fire control as written on the FAQ =))

Thats too much lascannons on your Long fang dudes. If you agree on my points above, ditch 4 lascannons from 2 LF squads, get another TL LC Razorback thanks to the Wolf Guard, and while your at it: Just go TL LC over the Lasplas Razorback. I seriously dont think you'll need be using those plasma guns as they're the only tanks in your army, those guns wont see much action as they will be dead by the time they are in 24" range. That's why you stick with the TLLC. It makes you breath easier when you know that you can reroll that failed lascannon shot.

I tend to have a hard on for powerfists myself and putting one on a grey hunter is a waste. Like yuber said, PF and Combi-melta WG are the way to go for leading the hunter squads.

I have a differing opinion on the las in the Long Fangs though. I think you should have a single squad of las and 2 of missiles. If you decide to fire missiles at a horde, you want to be able to drop as many templates at once so your opponent doesn't cherry pick his casualties to lessen template vulnerability.

On the Razorbacks I do tend to run TL Las. Las/Plas Razors don't really become much better than TL las until you get w/in 12" of the enemy. A rhino chassis w/in 12" of the enemy at the end of it's turn will most likely be a smoking wreck on the enemies turn.

I agree with most of what has been said as far as dropping a marine and adding a WG with PF and Combi Melta. At the very least i would recomend dropping the power weapon weilding marines for MoW i find they tend to get the job done as well as any PW. Beyond that i like it. Personally when i have done the LF squads with 3 missiles and 2 lasscannons i have enjoyed it, but i usually only run 2 squads, a third might be redundant in the LC department so maybe only 2x squads of 3x ML and 2x LC and then a squad with 5x ML should help free up some points, and still gve you plenty of AV14 killing power, especially with 3 LasPlas Razors.

Just my two cents.
