Dakka has its painting and modeling section which is one of my fav places to go. However Im not a fan of lots of posts with people just asking questions. I tend to search for people posting their WIP and finished models.
Any chance of creating a "Showoff" thread for people to show their work off and another for people to ask questions? In other words, split it up a bit?

Those threads pop up all the time. Surely searching for "showoff" would yield some results?

I never see them. The subject line of peoples threads doesnt always appear to be what you think either. Someone will post "Tyranids!!!" as a subject for example and it turns out to be "what colours should I paint them"?
Not a "must have" request, but would be nice.

Maybe have a requirement to the name of the thread, like "[Question Only]", or some other tag, if it is just a question with no pictures presented at all. I don't see another board being made for it.

I've been thinking along the same lines OoieGoie. The only argument against it is that there would be greatly reduced traffic to the questions forum so fewer people would get answers, but at the same time it would make the showoff area much more interesting and it is something that is missing from dakka. Will continue to think about it but it might get created (needs some gallery code integration to work properly so is a bit of work).

To see the current incarnation of showoff threads, look at the sticky titled 'Vote for this"

The thing is some of the excellent stuff with loads of WIP images gets lost at the moment. That is the main justification for a change.

The stuff with loads of WIP images should be over in P&M Blogs anyway, so shouldn't be a problem to find if that's what people are looking for.
I agree though that thread titles probably should be tightened up a little, as they are in the news and rumour forums, to make it clear when a post is a question.

Thing is insaniak, it is when you document a whole project start to finish and then post it in one big go, then it does not really fit in project blogs as it is a one off post, but would get lost quickly in either existing forum as well.
I like the idea a bit more the more I think about it as it could go some way to replacing the 'vote for this' threads with a proper single paintjob highlight area.

Is it feasible to include a connected gallery, with toggle buttons to open a feedback thread.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
