I am thinking of buying a racing game for my computer. What should I get? I love Forza, but its not on the P.C.

Everywhere I'm not supposed to be.

Before the joke that was Need for Speed: Underground was released, there was Motor City Online. Best. Racing game. Ever. Based around muscle cars, you had the choice of upgrading/replacing every minute part of your car, from the rims, to the distributor, to the types of rockers you have in your valve train, to a little pair of fuzzy dice hanging from the rear-view mirror. You could race for pinks or for fun, and some of us even set up demo derbies! Sadly, the game was taken offline to create server space for NFS:U...damn you EA!

That being said, I'd give up on the search for a PC racing game and just stick with Forza, if possible.

If you need me, I'll be busy wiping the layers of dust off my dice.

I don't have a HORRENDOUS, PIECE OF CRAP XBOX SUXTY!!!! It is a complete waste of money. Its like buying Ghazghkull and not using him for anything. I played Forza 2 on my cousins Xbox and I love the 1968 Shelby GT500 KR.

I know the burnout games are generally well recieved.

If your looking for something a little off the beaten track, something free called Trackmania might be for you.

Burnout Paradise is good fun, I got it recently from XBox Games on Demand, loads of extras to get too, but then it's not a 'real' racing game if you get what I mean.

Racedriver: Grid as previously mentioned is a cracking good racer, I've played it many times over. Gives you more than a few different types of racing to do, including a (dramatically) sped up Le Mans race at the end of the season. Can usually pick it up pretty cheap these days, I've seen it going for under £10 locally.

Split Second is a good time, as is Blur.

I hear rumors that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is being redone to bring the NFS line back into the awesomeness it was before it went all tuner.

If you're looking for an actual racing game then Need for Speed: Shift is really good. It's not like other NFS games, it's a pretty good hybrid between arcade and simulation.

If you're just looking for to beat up cars and do crazy stunts then there's nothing better than Burnout Paradise.

I own an play both these games.

Need for speed shift is not a simulation at all. It is entirely Arcade, unlike forza 3 with has the Top Gear Test Track with The STIG as driver option.
