I've been thinking of converting some Obliterators for my Thousand Sons army (I just don't like the models!), and was wondering what the community's reaction at large would be to me converting Flamer models. Obviously their arms would be bulked out, they'd be based on the Obliterator bases, probably standing on ruins/bits of tank to make them taller, maybe with minor daemons scampering around their feet. To make things even fairer, I'd be generous when checking line of sight and cover saves to compensate for any difference in size. I'm sure everyone I play would be fine with this, but I'd be intrigued to see what dakkaites think

Hopefully, this might turn into a project log if I can get my hands on some!

Thanks,

Ben

Since it's Tzeentch, and everything old bird-head goes near tends to mutate beyond recognition, combine that with a virus that can turn flesh into any weapon it's victim wants, then I suggest:

-Put a quantity of CSM terminator and heavy weapon bits into a bag.
-Squirt in some plastic glue
-Seal, shake, then glue to a 40mm base!

Just stuff some plastic weapons into a blob of putty and sculpt it to look like it's an explosion/implosion of flesh and weapons. Or if you really wanna go with the Flamers, have all of the weapons come out of the "feet" or "mouth" of the thing, kinda like them comically coming out of (war)hammerspace (incredibly lame pun I know).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Well, my skills with green stuff are dubious, but this sounds good, so I'll try and have an assortment of weapon-ish things sprouting from them

One flamer sounds too small - what about two or three, merging at the top?

But tzeentch is all about mutation, you can go nuts and e.g. have a creature with nine arms and five legs and three heads etc, it doesn't have to look like an inflated terminator like the standard oblit does.

I like the idea of having several flamers (and maybe a couple horrors) on a single large base. It would represent some really nice modeling opportunities, and since you'd be doing up "chaosy flames" between them you wouldn't need to be all that detailed with sculpting.

That was what was mainly on my mind Have the Flamers standing on, say, part of a ruined Rhino to make them taller, and have them surrounded by Horrors/minor daemons to bulk them out so that they wouldn't mess up los too much. Plus, as you said, it doesn't require me to sculpt much, which when you've seen my attempts with green stuff is a good thing

*EDIT* Though I've just seen your blog, and ohmygosh your Eldar look good! *hides own blog*
